New book not having book reports generated[edit]

I made the Book:State highways in Georgia (U.S. state) page on September 20, but no book reports have been generated on the talk page. What is wrong? Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 06:30, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am not aware of such a thing as book reports here. can you point to an example of what we should be seeing, or to any guidelines? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 08:22, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Steelpillow: such as that on Book talk:U.S. Route 66. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 13:35, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. (I haven't paid these any attention for so long I forgot they existed!). Another user posted today on the maintainer's talk page]], about a report formatting problem. @Anomalocaris:, are you able to shed any further light on when reports are generated? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 17:15, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Steelpillow: I don't know how or when the book talk pages are generated. All I know is that the system that generates them has bugs, and if you fix an error on a book talk page, the system re-creates the page with the same error. —Anomalocaris (talk) 18:39, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. I have asked the maintainer about it directly, here. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 20:43, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

– The Book Creator service is disabled for a long time. Therefore, the beginners guide is invalid. Therefore, mark the beginner's guide as historical and make the expert's guide the only guide. Soumya-8974 talk contribs subpages 08:04, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The premise is false. The Book Creator front end is still working. Only two things have gone; the in-wiki PDF service and a link to it in the site's maim nav tools. Beginners may still create books for rendering by one of the off-wiki services. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 08:31, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. For the same reasons as user Steelpillow presents. The guide can be updated to remove the references to the obsolete functions.--HugoHelp (talk) 19:38, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The Book Creator front end still works. The guide can be updated to reflect the recent status. TharikRish 20:02, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW the guide was substantially updated ages ago and I have just mopped-up a few more minor updates. Done and dusted. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 13:07, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
