Pool Corporation, doing business as POOLCORP, is a publicly-traded American company that manufactures equipment and machinery for swimming pools. As of 2021, it was the largest wholesale distributor of swimming pool and backyard products in the world.[3]

In 2020, the company's stock was added to the S&P 500 stock market index.[4]

History[edit]

Pool Corporation was founded in 1980 as South Central Pool Supply by Frank J. St. Romain.[2]

In 1993, the company was purchased by Code Hennessey's & Simmons, and then went through a rapid expansion phase. The company later went public in 1995, renaming itself to the SCP Pool Corporation.[2]

The company renamed to Pool Corporation on May 16, 2006.[5]

Controversies[edit]

The company was accused by the Federal Trade Commission in 2011 of antitrust practices by pressuring its suppliers to not conduct business with its competitors. The company settled with a consent order which prohibited the company from continuing the practice.[6]
