four out of four title images show alpine idylls? I mean, nostalgia is all very well, but how about balancing this away a little bit from folklore and stereotypes? dab (𒁳) 17:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PORTAL SWITZERLAND

The Swiss Confederation or Switzerland (Latin: Confoederatio Helvetica, German: die Schweiz or Schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft, French: La Suisse or La Confederation Suisse, Italian: Svizzera, Romansh: Svizra) is a landlocked Alpine country in Central Europe with a strong economy in finance and banking, pharmaceutics, watches and micro-precision industry.

Switzerland borders Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.

Switzerland is a confederation and has a long and strong tradition of political and military neutrality. This background allows Switzerland various international co-operations and organizations.

How about something like this? ---Sluzzelin 05:10, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hm.. no. I'm sure we can settle for something between these extremens :) dab (𒁳) 17:26, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Novartis, looks too much like an advertising. What about "Bundeshaus" in place of Blocher and replacing Novartis with Aletsch. Look how we did that on :fr (well the layout has changed but there are some ideas if you want to replace your 4 pics). 85.2.79.72 22:44, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the suggestion was a New Year's joke. I do like the look of French WP's portal of Switzerland, though the concept is different, featuring smaller images for each subcategory (politics, geography, history, etc.) Which ever way this portal goes, I agree with dab that the alpine idylls could be balanced out a bit. Specifically, more urbanity, at least some buildings or signs of civilization and/or technology, maybe a railway picture, maybe the Bundeshaus, as suggested by 85.2.79.72. I've been looking through Commons, but haven't found any clear winners yet. ---Sluzzelin 15:45, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

People... Much as I would like, but Albert Einstein was not Swiss although he assumed Swiss citizenship in the end. At the time of his death, he actually was a US - Swiss double citizen Tprosser 17:44, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So what is the right name for the artile and which one will become the redirect?--Stone (talk) 10:02, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm hardly active in the English Wikipedia only now and then with minor edits. Could someone please help me and explain me what I have to do if I believe that someone actually violates WP:HOUND? --MBurch (talk) 03:30, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notice from the Portals WikiProject[edit]

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   07:46, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
