Brief review[edit]

Copyedited this article. Feedback encouraged. A couple of observations:

Way too many footnotes. No need for 5 sources for a single incident described in a single sentence, unless there is some dispute. Pick the best single one or two and leave it at that.
Too much emphasis on day to day incidents. The Background section needs to be expanded. It should cover the main opposing forces with their sizes and equipment, the geography and locate the conflict in the larger civil war.
