MİTÜP AltayAltay

  • This is an old settled move request which was given a new header at 12:18, 4 July 2011 by someone as a suggested discussed move MİTÜP AltayAltay. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 15:44, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • MİTÜP AltayAltay — No need to use MITUP acronym (which means only national tnak project), since the project name was changed by undersecretariat of defence and the main battle tank is called Altay nowadays.. — EfsunAskeri (talk) 13:41, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.

Support Altay is the proper name for the tank, this is the official project name — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hudavendigar (talkcontribs)

Discussion[edit]

Any additional comments:
  • Altay is a disambiguation page. Takabeg (talk) 12:27, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • What means "MKE Reactive Composite Armor"? The Altay tank will be armored by Roketsan's composite technology to build armor for the new tank. MKE will produce other things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.210.62.166 (talk) 20:51, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Most people know "Altay" or "Altai" as a range of mountains, etc, not an army tank. Leave the plain name as a disambig page. Move to Altay (tank)? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 15:27, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think Altay (tank) is acceptable. Takabeg (talk) 00:37, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Armament Smoothbore GUN ! is INCORRECT[edit]

Question for Moderators. I have issue with the Armament section. It says this uses a GERMAN Rheinmetall L/55-based MKEK 120mm smoothbore gun. This is not true. I can't find ANY SOURCE that says Turkey is licensing this gun from Germany. This smoothbore is actually a Korean design if I'm not mistaken. Can we have someone edit the details to be correct. There is no contribution by Germany to this tank. Germany has SANCTIONS on turkey for involvement with Syria. Please lets be correct.--2603:8090:1301:72D:7822:DCB3:3152:CFBD (talk) 02:02, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ready For Production[edit]

I removed the line about Altay has completed testing and ready for production. This is a false claim, also source was "Dünya Times", which is not a reliable source, as they mentioned Cihan News Agency as their source.

To my knowledge, most of R&D is done, but two prototypes are scheduled to be built, dubbed "PV-1" and "PV-2" for final testing with all operational subsystems, fire control systems and armour included. Up to this point, hull and drivetrain, fire control systems and armour were being developed independently but they are not put together and undergone integration testing.

I'll check my sources and post references on this topic soon.Heruamarth (talk) 00:39, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

FWIW, there's apparently an image available on the Turkish Wikipedia, but I dunno how to migrate it over to this Wikipedia. Guy1890 (talk) 03:56, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

From a Wikipedia perspective, this is not a "good blog" - blogs are not a reliable source. Additionally, you need to read WP:CRYSTAL as the blog is only discussing the possibility of purchasing the tank. No order has been placed, and no decision has been made. The content is inappropriate to the article, and will be removed. ScrpIronIV 14:34, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please Don't Change It.No Need The Sources.I Think Is True.149.129.32.89 (talk) 14:41, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a question of "truth" but rather one of verifiability. The information does not belong in the article, unless it is accompanied by verifiable, reliable, sources. I am not the only editor which has removed this information. ScrpIronIV 14:57, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New tank?[edit]

Is this actually a new design, or a modified South Korean K2 Black Panther? The article suggests the latter. But this should be confirmed, and if so noted in the introduction. As drafted the article implies that it is both an entirely new indigenous design, and a modified K2. It obviously cannot be both.Royalcourtier (talk) 21:57, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Under the design section, it is fairly clearly specified that it is a new design which leverages some technologies from the K2 through international agreement. What is confusing you? ScrpIronIV 22:06, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is new tank. Technical support has been received from South Korea, but it also has very different characteristics. It's also much more expensive. Türkoğlu1927 (talk) 10:37, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
