Thumbs.db[edit]

Note to self and others: if my memory isn't playing tricks on me, the "thumbs.db" files use this as well. Shinobu 09:55, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your memory is not playing a trick on you. Thumbs.db files are indeed implementations of Structured Storage. I have created an application that reads the contents of such files and dumps them.
But never mind that. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and is no place for stuff like this, unless it "has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject".

Competition?[edit]

I think section 4 "Competition" isn't. It seems the list here under "Competition" includes only libraries that support the Microsoft format. The MSDN article on the "IStream interface" <http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa380034(VS.85).aspx> does reference "the compound file implementation of structured storage," but I wonder: are there actually any other implementations? I'm fixing this issue.
