gun control[edit]

Under politics, it says, "with the church championing... gun control,[78]" but what is cited is not an official statement from the Church supporting gun control, but rather what seems to be an opinion piece from 2013 from uscatholic.org arguing that Catholics ought to support gun control which in turn cites another opinion piece from Washington Post arguing the same thing. This seems a bit misleading because by the wording of saying that the Church is "championing" gun control, it sounds like the Church has officially endorsed gun control in the US, which doesn't seem to be the case at least based on the source cited. If no one can come up with a better source, I think that it should be removed, or at least clarified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JMM12345 (talkcontribs) 20:03, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There was no response here for almost two months, so I removed the claim that the Church supports gun control from the article. If you want to restore it, please cite a better source.JMM12345 (talk) 22:21, 30 April 2021 (UTC)JMM12345[reply]
Their official position(s) are laid out here, although whether this qualifies as "supporting gun control" is a matter of interpretation: https://www.usccb.org/resources/backgrounder-gun-violence-mercy-and-peacebuilding-approach-gun-violence-january-2020 MrArticleOne (talk) 01:22, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Melania Trump[edit]

It was totally correct for 209.183.216.36 to remove Melania Trump's name from this selected list of notable Catholics, because the entry was unsourced. According to WP:BLPREMOVE policy any other name without a corresponding citation can be removed from that list as well. I've restored Trump's entry with several citations as evidence of her faith. Thank you, 209.183.216.36, for bringing this to our attention! Elizium23 (talk) 20:00, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ARDA/Pew[edit]

I have reverted an edit that removed Pew (2014) in favour of ARDA (2010). I 'm not against adding ARDA but as it is more like a database, you should mention where they got the numbers (and preferably a link to the ARDA page). The Pew source should not be removed (except if there is a more recent Pew survey, and even then the 2014 data should probably be retained in the article but the graph should then be the most recent data). 2A02:1810:BC3A:D800:2C98:387B:A549:4647 (talk) 10:54, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I understand Pew is overall a good source, but those 2014 Pew Research Polls are REALLY REALLY REALLY bad, and contradict all other available data on religion in the United States.
The 2010 ARDA Data is from a firm that specializes on this exact topic and is far more inline with the mainstream.
At the very least both polls should be presented to the reader. 100.33.82.60 (talk) 03:32, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
