China has more high-speed Internet users than it does IP addresses
The IP address starvation article seems to differ greatly with this statement. And the references in the CNGI article indicate that the reasons for CNGI are more about China aiming to have its own independent technology capability and competitive advantage, not imminent address starvation. My understanding on this issue is that both are true. I am not sure exactly how it is worked out currently, somewhere along the line of port forwarding and routing tables. This is also why internet speed is slower generally in mainland china. Yongke 13:59, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
