Confusing statement[edit]

"vendor-independent XML-based (as opposed to PDF)" is confusing at best. PDF is also vendor-independent. I do not see a benefit of adding this "(as opposed to PDF)" at all.

I am quite certain that whoever wrote this must have meant "PDF vs. XML-based" rather than "PDF vs. vendor-independent". But that does not change the point that this sentence is confusing. It also does not follow from the makeuseof article that it refers to, which does not clearly mention any distinction between EPUB and PDF. This article only serves as a source for the last part of the sentence with EPUB apparently being the most widely adopted ebook file format. So I completely agree that "(as opposed to PDF)" does not add anything; I have removed it just now.--MichielN (talk) 06:33, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
