Outer and inner east bay[edit]

gsearch: 137 uses of outer east bay, 50 in google news; 263 uses of inner east bay, 67 in google news. not a common phrase, but may be useful. term is used in "san francisco bay area" article, and since the east bay article here is a major article, the article section on the east bay in the sfbay article should be a small stub (maybe just a referral?), so as not to duplicate data. maybe the city list can incorporate this concept as displayed in the sfbay article. What does 'inner' mean?[edit]

On the list of East Bay towns a number of them have the word 'inner' listed afterwards parenthetically. What is this supposed to mean? Thanks.

OK, prior to actually posting this I read the Cities intro paragraph I see where you are going. That said, having lived exclusively in 'inner' East Bay towns all my 53 years I've never hear that term, and as listed city-by-city, it makes no sense. (Many cities that touch the bay are not designated 'inner'). Suggest ditching the whole inner concept. --Fizbin (talk) 17:45, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adding race and progressive background under "Culture"[edit]

Hey! I will be adding notes on progressive and liberal movements that the East Bay is famous for. Since these have, and still do, affect our day-to-day lives in the Bay, I think it is an important addition to the Culture section of the Bay. Ksundaramurthy (talk) 21:41, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Far more populated than the other East Bays, and pageviews show that East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area) gets a majority of hits: 6,506 out of 11,849 total last month (subtract out unrelated pages like Long Island and incomplete matches like East Bay Ray). In fact, most of the 5,343 other hits are coming from California State University, East Bay (4,731 hits), whose long-term significance is far less than the region from which its name is derived. The next highest viewed place actually called "East Bay" is East Bay (Rhode Island), with only 160 hits. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 03:49, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Note also: according to the article, "With a population of roughly 2.5 million in 2010, it [the East Bay] is the most populous subregion in the Bay Area." Oppose It very depends on call it America-wiki or call it English-wiki. Please, hit rate should not be the primary criterion. One counter example, Cristiano Ronaldo currently have more page view than Ronaldo (Brazilian footballer), but clearly he is not the primary topic of Ronaldo and if asking people older than 30 who watched "Ronaldo the Phenomenon", they can tell one is Ronaldo one is Cristiano Ronaldo. Hit rate, or pageviews, is actually one of the main criteria for choosing a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, which this article has, but I also referred you to Google Books and Scholar, where the California location also has most (not all, but a large majority) of the results.
