Untitled[edit]

I vote it stays. The case is notable enough that someone might want to research her, which is what an encyclopedia is for. Czolgolz (talk) 19:12, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Hopefully the references will be of use to anyone who wants to look up her case. The High Court decision includes a reference to the other unfair dismissal case she took. Autarch (talk) 19:19, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The nature of the events[edit]

Although Eileen Flynn is recently deceased, WP:BLP has been mentioned as a concern, presumably because of privacy issues relating to the late Eileen Flynn and her family. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding her dismissal involved her private life and this means we have to be careful. Maybe mentioning her funeral was going too far, though the page cited gives her date of death. Autarch (talk) 19:54, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion[edit]

The deletion proposal was added to the page when an early version (basically one sentence) was all there was. Since then, I've added some material with references to relevant news items, Oireachtas discussions and an academic paper. Autarch (talk) 20:30, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I still have trouble seeing how "sacked for being pregnant" is notable. Scolaire (talk) 07:12, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that this article may well be notable now - but as mentioned before, I prodded it when it was basically one sentence, and inherently non-notable. Czolgolz - don't get carried away with the voting - this was a prod, not an AfD :-) CultureDrone (talk) 07:59, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I imagine it will be an AfD soon enough. Scolaire (talk) 10:18, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If an article does not explain why its subject is notable, that may be because:-
  1. it actually is not notable, or
  2. the article needs improvement to show:-
    1. (at least) that it is notable, and
    2. (ideally) why it is notable.
I hope the 2016 version at least satisfies 2.1 if not 2.2. jnestorius(talk) 19:51, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sources differing[edit]

Sources differ on:

  • whether she taught English (RTE) or Irish (1985 IEHC 1)
  • whether the 1982 principal was Mary Anna Power (1985 IEHC 1) or Pauline Leonard (Sheehan)
