Title of article[edit]

Resolved

A few days ago, someone changed the title of this article from "Elsa (Disney)" to "Elsa the Snow Queen (Disney)". I think either the "Disney" part or the "Snow Queen" part should be removed, as only one is needed to clarify who the character is. Personally, I am in favor of the original version - Elsa (Disney) - because it corresponds with how most of the Disney princess articles are titled. See Rapunzel (Disney), Snow White (Disney), Merida (Disney), Belle (Disney), and Tiana (Disney) for examples. --1ST7 (talk) 19:35, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Currently", "Formerly", "Deceased" as descriptors in article infobox[edit]

I removed those terms from the infobox [1] as those terms don't belong when describing fictional characters. The article should be correct for each instant of the film when the film is viewed as described at WP:Writing better articles#Tense and WP:Manual of Style/Writing about fiction. Elsa's parents were described as "deceased" in the infobox when they were both shown to be alive for the first part of the film - they died in a scene in the film and were living when the film started so "deceased" is incorrect when applied to the film as a whole. Also Elsa changes her title during the film so "currently" and "formerly" also do not apply to the film as a whole as in the film itself she is shown to be both. In this recent Reddit conversation, the fate of Elsa's parents was revealed by Frozen director Chris Buck: "they didn't die on the boat. They got washed up on a shore in a jungle island. #GiveElsaAGirlfriend[edit]

I removed this from the article, even though well-referenced in a reliable secondary source as I considers this trivial for this article - a minor social media flareup that we don't need to document and perpetuate. This has nothing to do with the character as currently portrayed in any of the official works she appears in. This is not a controversy about this character but about a wider social issue. Adding it to this article is WP:UNDUE weight. The actress made a diplomatic response and the "wacky religious people" made their expected response. We should leave hashtag created issues out of articles unless there is widespread coverage in reliable secondary sources that show this is a real notable issue and not just the typical dustup between the normal social opponents. Heir apparent[edit]

An editor is changing "heiress to the throne" to "heir apparent to the throne". The original wording was a generality on purpose as rules of succession were never specified in story. Heir presumptive is almost certain given the story is in a fictional Scandinavian country in the 1800s where male preference primogeniture was standard until about 1980, heir apparent required absolute primogeniture which is almost risible to consider for the times. Still it is WP:OR to specify, Disney could do what they want and ignore historical reality, and the issue never came up in story as Elsa only had a younger sister, not a brother where it would have mattered. The current wording is sufficiently descriptive to tell the reader what the situation was without going into unnecessary details that really don't matter to the story at hand. I agree that Elsa's birth year is not mentioned anywhere. I am sorry for my mistake. But Elsa definitely was born on 'December 21'. As this fact was tweeted by the writer and director 'Jennifer Lee'. For those who saying that her birthday falls on Winter Solstice, sure it does, but December 21 was the day of winter solstice in whichever year she was born. Therefore there is no confusion between the birth date. She said winter solstice which varies between Dec 21 and Dec 22 depending on the year which was not stated. Saying 21-22 is stating a range of two days and is reasonable given the uncertainty.
