Some general comments
  • I feel stupid for even saying this, but can the opening sentence mention something that the operation took place in the Indian Ocean. It's mentioned in the lead, already, but until I read that I honestly thought that the British actually invaded the Ile de Paris. I didn't make the distinction between Paris and France until just about now, actually! Or maybe Wikilink Ile de France to Mauritus, or whatever the island is called now; dumb people like me, otherwise, get confused. :(
No, I understand. I felt like that initially, but by this stage I must have become so familiar with the material I didn't notice it. Changed--Jackyd101 (talk) 01:10, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are some portions of the text where I had to read it twice, but these were very specific instances and they weren't bad. An example: The naval authorities instantly responded by sending those forces immediately available to Île Bourbon. I wasn't sure if this sentence meant "the naval authorities instantly responded by making those forces immediately available..." or they sent forces which were immediately available to the squadron, because they couldn't send all the ships he had requested at that time. The next sentence, I think, reaffirms it as the latter case, as the British only sent two frigates to reinforce the squadron. I think what made it confusing was the word "those"; if it is the latter case, then I think "those" might be redundant.
I've made the changes suggested above, although there were more than two frigates sent, its just that the first two to arrive were involved in engagements with Hamelin's squadron. If you have anything else that needs looking at then please let me know.--Jackyd101 (talk) 01:10, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Regardless, the article easily passes a GA-review. If possible, could you add the image source box to File:Bonne - Isle de France (Detail).jpg? That is, that purple box new uploads have? I've been requested to do it for a FAC before, I thought I might as well alert you to this as soon as possible.
Could you give me an example of this box so I can see what you mean? Thanks--Jackyd101 (talk) 01:10, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Parts of the second para of the lead appear to have become garbled during the editing - could someone take a look at it? Cheers Kbthompson (talk) 17:50, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can you be more specific please? Which bits are garbled?--Jackyd101 (talk) 01:10, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review, much appreciated.--Jackyd101 (talk) 01:10, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
