I re-worded this article quite a bit. I hope the original intent has not been lost. Mseliw 22:58, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your changes, like the mall, have been lost to the winds of time. Mercster (talk) 16:00, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

East Towne Mall or Knoxville Center?[edit]

Main subject's website before closure in 2020 clearly states the mall as its former name East Towne Mall, not Knoxville Center.[1]

Is there any source that proves that the mall's name was changed back to Knoxville Center before closure? Any source provided clearly has to state that the mall renamed back to Knoxville Center.

Just because a Knox News article or local news channel cites it in a story as Knoxville Center does not provide context of the name reversion back to Knoxville Center. If a source is not provided of renaming, I will be requesting a move of the article's content back to East Towne Mall. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AppalachianCentrist (talkcontribs) 12:02, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I live in the area and I have consistently known of, and heard of, this place as Knoxville Center ever since the name was changed a couple of decades ago. Local news media (newspaper, TV stations) have consistently called it Knoxville Center. The sign in the March 2018 photo (photo date after the name was allegedly changed) in the article shows the name as Knoxville Center. The local news media are published sources independent of the article subject that need to maintain a reputation for fact-checking. As such, they are reliable sources for Wikipedia articles. These types of sources take precedence over a website that claims to be the official site of the article subject (not a reliable source by the Wikipedia definition). If this shopping center truly adopted a new name in 2017, as claimed, I would think that the local news media would have learned to use the new name sometime between 2017 and 2019.
