More information please![edit]

Leeds even have youth players like Beaman, Marshall, Myler and Patrick Antelmi. And I would like some more information about the players, several has no information about age and nationality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.231.191.168 (talk) 05:41, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested moves[edit]

The result of the move request was: processing these as uncontroversial (and support is clear below) given the result of the recent requested move at the main team article. Dekimasuよ! 19:20, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

– The article Leeds United A.F.C. was recently moved to Leeds United F.C.. We should be consistent with the naming with the parent article, these articles should follow suit. I haven't listed every season but they should all be moved too. IJA (talk) 12:31, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support all, except season articles before 2007 Prior to 2007 the club's name was Leeds United A.F.C., so 2006–07 Leeds United A.F.C. season is the correct title (examples of this are Newport County (previously known as Newport A.F.C.) and Manchester City (previously known as Ardwick A.F.C.) – the seasons during which they were known as the latter names have that as the title – e.g. 1992–93 Newport A.F.C. season and 1893–94 Ardwick A.F.C. season). A piece of advice for future though - just move the articles yourself rather than bothering with the palaver of a formal RM - it's hardly controversial. Number 57 12:42, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Number 57: - I've changed my request based on your comment. Regards IJA (talk) 12:46, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@IJA: - you forgot to strike the 2006–07 article, I have now done so. GiantSnowman 12:56, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: - Cheers mate, I assume you're in support too? IJA (talk) 13:00, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - as Number 57 says, the club name changed in 2007. Articles before that date need to reflect the historical name at the time, articles after that date need to reflect the current name. GiantSnowman 13:04, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Young professionals[edit]

Young professionals, as per the text in the Current players section, are those 23 years old and under who are eligible to play for the development squad. I propose that all eligible players are listed here - otherwise you'll need to make subjective decisions about who counts as a 'first-team' player, or stop counting someone as a young professional the first time they make an appearance off the bench. Meesher (talk) 19:24, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The purpose of the players listing under Current Players is to identify players primarily associated with the development team. Basing this on eligibility would mean that all senior players are listed too, as players over the age of 23 are able to play with this age group and are only limited to the number that can play together at once. While making a distinction between which players under the age of 23 are primarily associated with the first team and which are associated with the development team may be subjective, reasonable judgement can be exercised and this is standard practice across all other clubs' Reserves and Youth Team pages.

For instance, Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood are not listed with Manchester United's development team. Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Ben White are not listed with Arsenal's. The same is true for every club. It seems reasonable to make the same separation for regular first team starters such as Ilan Meslier and Pascal Struijk; or players who have featured regularly for the first team for their fourth consecutive season such as Tyler Roberts and Jamie Shackleton; or major signings such as Dan James who have made over 100 career appearances and who have clearly been signed as important first team squad members.

It does not seem purposeful to list all players under the age of 23 irrespective of appearance or their status as a player; and it'd be helpful if you could provide support of your proposal being used elsewhere for a Premier League club's Reserve, Development and/or Youth team pages. Until then, I suggest it remains as it is. Leeds543 (talk) 00:06, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please suggest an objective basis for inclusion in the list then, if not age? Meesher (talk) 06:22, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
