Requested move[edit]

Linear Tape File System|The LTFS page in Wikipedia should focus on the Linear Tape File System technology rather than focusing on an individual implementation of this technology. The IBM product "Long Term File System" is only one of many possible uses of the "Linear Tape File System" technology. I have edited the page to focus on the technology and refer to the IBM product as a sub-section of the page. To complete this edit the page should be renamed to "Linear Tape File System".

Encryption[edit]

Can anybody add some information about encryption and how this would work with LTFS? i.e.

  • Does LTFS encrypt whole tapes, or just files, leaving filenames and filesizes visible?
  • Is LTFS encryption comptable over various vendors? Does one encrypted tape work in another vendors drive?
  • Is there (Linux) open source support for LTFS encryption?

I googled but came up empty. 156.83.1.114 (talk) 12:09, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
