[Untitled][edit]

This is not a list of shopping malls in Thailand, it is mostly a list of stores in Thailand. That is way too much detail - Wikipedia is not a directory of stores. Someone should prune out all the entries for individual stores and smaller shopping plazas. Brianyoumans 07:47, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Big C Logo.gif[edit]

Image:Big C Logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:25, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources needed[edit]

This article is a mess. Lots of redlinks, precious few sources. The links we have are almost worse than the redlinks, because quite a lot point to the wrong destination. Another problem is the confusion between malls, department stores and even the furniture retailer Index Living Mall. This gets only worse for the malls "under construction" or "coming soon". I'll go through the article, try to find a source for every entry, and remove what I cannot confirm to be a mall. Obviously, this will take some time, and help will be appreciated greatly. --Huon (talk) 13:59, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't get too far in adding sources, but I will keep the articcle from getting worse by removing any further unsourced additions on sight. If you want to add a new mall, please add a source at least showing its existence. Huon (talk) 14:38, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Started rework[edit]

Oh dear, yes, what a mess, I can see why previous editors have been so daunted. I want to start work on salvaging this article, and I've started with some alphabetical ordering. I'd suggest working on this in several phases. First phase would be to fix alphabetical order. Possible other phases, not necessarily in this order, to include splitting out Bangkok list because the whole article is way too long, check all wikilinks and fix where necessary, check redlinks and remove if the subject looks unlikely to get its own article, check current external references, search for extra references. Maybe split into several lists, for department stores, malls, and super/hypermarkets. Oscroft (talk) 08:08, 7 January 2010 (UTC).[reply]

I've moved the Bangkok section to its own page and I've sorted and indexed it alphabetically. I've also removed some broken links and a number of duplicates from it. Don't know whether to split out other cities/provinces first, or attempt a mall/hyper/dept split. Any comments or suggestions would be most welcome. Oscroft (talk) 17:15, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm partly concerned with the appropriateness of the topic itself. As it is, this is borderline WP:NOTDIR to me. There are quite a few pages at Category:Lists of shopping malls, but none of the same regarding hypermarkets and department stores, so this list should probably be trimmed down. --Paul_012 (talk) 18:07, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's an interesting thought - it does seem to have evolved into a "list of any old shopping place I can think of" thing. There was some disagreement regarding WP:NOTDIR when it was previously nominated for deletion, but trimming it down to just shopping malls might be a good way to go. Oscroft (talk) 19:56, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I've also just found List of shopping malls in Bangkok, so I need to merge. Oscroft (talk) 19:59, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ha! Further examination of List of shopping malls in Bangkok shows that it includes hypermarkets and department stores! Oscroft (talk) 20:04, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, some of the other List of shopping malls in... lists also include department stores, hypermarkets, and retail chains, such as Taipei, Malaysia, Philippines. Oscroft (talk) 20:24, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Have merged my new List of shopping malls, hypermarkets and department stores in Bangkok with List of shopping malls in Bangkok and have requested WP:CSD for the former. Oscroft (talk) 11:07, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Precedent does suggest that department stores and hypermarkets should not be included, so I'm going to start removing them, starting with the Bangkok list. Oscroft (talk) 16:34, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The Bangkok list is cleaned up and alphabetized - it just needs some more references now. Boing! said Zebedee (aka Oscroft) 15:04, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article now renamed, and all obvious dept stores, supermarkets, chain stores, night bazaars, etc removed. Some if it is alphabetized, but there's still a lot to do. Redlinks also need to be removed, and references added. Boing! said Zebedee (aka Oscroft) 15:08, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All alphabetized, redlinks removed, non-malls removed, and some refs added where I could find them. More refs are needed, and some of the ones I've found could be improved on, but I think this is a reasonable start. -- Boing! said Zebedee 07:14, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By Province[edit]

The list was a mess of provinces and cities with nothing to distinguish them - you wouldn't know whether each section was a province or a city until you clicked the title link to find out. I've reworked it now so it's all arranged by province - with level three headings for districts/cities within that where justified. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:10, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
