No contest?[edit]

Che Mills no contest. Should this really be listed as a no contest. The testing was done by the UFC and not an outside independant commish. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.68.233.102 (talk) 06:08, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Matt Riddle beat JON JONES in High School wrestling! Pic going around[edit]

Someone should mention on this profile that on August 20, 2014 a viral picture is going around showing that this guy Riddle beat Jon Jones in high school wrestling tournament (Jones was 4th, riddle 1st). Go to Daniel Cormier's twitter account to get pic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.70.28.126 (talk) 22:13, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 4 January 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. See ample support after 26 days and two relists to rename as proposed, to include "Matthew Riddle" as a primary-topic redirect to target "Matt Riddle". The professional wrestler and former MMA fighter is by far the primary topic. Although in some promotions he has used his full name as his ring name, his Sherdog profile, IWD profile and various websites have referred to him as Matt Riddle. • Support second, not convinced that Matt Riddle (wrestler) wouldn't be better for the first. note that Matthew Riddle (biblical scholar) also has an article: Matthew Riddle (disambiguation) In ictu oculi (talk) 12:00, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not convinced - Riddle's notability is derived largely from his MMA career rather than his pro wrestling (Riddle has thus far only wrestled for relatively small independent promotions) so changing the article to Matt Riddle (wrestler) seems inappropriate. And a number of the MMA-related citations provided refer to him as "Matthew Riddle" so the current article title is clearly not unreasonable. If he becomes more famous in the future for his pro wrestling exploits as "Matt Riddle" then this can be revisited. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 20:53, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support He has garnered more success in pro wrestling as Matt Riddle then he has as Matthew Riddle in MMA and in MMA they referred to him as Matt Riddle on occasion. This is WP:COMMONNAME. LovelyAngle (talk) 16:34, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support both Some cursory Google searching shows that the wrestler/MMA fighter is clearly the main topic for both "Matt Riddle" and "Matthew Riddle", although "Matt Riddle" is clearly the more common choice.--Aervanath (talk) 21:54, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Allegations[edit]

I've removed material covering some allegations from the article under WP:BLPCRIME. My reasoning is:

  • These are allegations, which Riddle has denied. He has not been convicted.
  • Riddle is not, to my knowledge, a "public figure" as defined here.
  • Connected to the previous point, the sources seem to all be internal to the wrestling world.

If these allegations had been covered in mainstream, generalist publications I think there would be a stronger case to include them in the article, though my view is that unless the coverage was widespread it would still be inappropriate. Best, Wham2001 (talk) 05:46, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He is 100% a public figure. There are multiple non "wrestling word" new sources that talk about it as well as the affair that Riddle did admit to. Very poor judgement to remove the material. Best. --173.62.186.227 (talk) 02:53, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Can you provide some references to these sources, please? Wham2001 (talk) 08:12, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Posting here to note that I've removed the allegations section again; the sourcing had not improved. Wham2001 (talk) 07:18, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored the section with an overhaul on sources. All sources I added adhere to the sourcing guidelines at WP:PW/RS.RF23 (talk) 06:38, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Middle name?[edit]

Is it Frederick or Thomas? The article says both. 197.89.10.212 (talk) 12:37, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Can you find one person who has two middle names other than John Cena? Just for proof. Hansen SebastianTalk 06:06, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Back to the mat[edit]

Can't wait to see the "original bro" Matt riddle back in the ring. Sucks he's been gone but hopefully comes back better then ever. What a hell of a match he puts on no matter who he wrestles. He's awesome to watch , and he will do just about anything in the ring it seems.

Be safe but kick some butt when u return Matt riddle. Can't wait to see u in the ring again bro. 2603:7080:913D:D7AD:E04C:EF15:B683:C03D (talk) 16:51, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
