Multiple minor vandalisms[edit]

Looks like several unlogged in users have been slowing building in uncorrected vandalism. Its gotten intermixed with real edits, so I'm attempting to manually edit out the vandalism (Checked back to Jan 1, 2007). Removals listed below

  • Pinecrest Ave [...] all run through McLean. -- minor dead end street. Non notable.
  • "and the bankroll of French aristocrat Jean-Pierre Guenard" -- no reference
  • "Over the years McLean has been the home to many lavish estates owned by families like the Broyhills (Broyhill Estates) and the Loseys (Losey Manor)." -- no reference. Broyhill McLean Estates appears to be the name of a neighborhood developed by Joel Broyhill. Couldn't find any references to a Losey Manor.
  • "William Dodge Country Day School, " -- no reference. Couldn't find any references to a William Dodge Country Day School

Any Part of Arlington?[edit]

A previous version of this page claimed that a small part of McLean is in Arlington County. Although Arlington County's zip code map does indicate that a part of zip code 22101 is in Arlington, presumably the Census Bureau is free to split zip codes when defining a census designated place. The CDP map included in the article appears to follow the county boundary rather than including all of 22101.--Jwwalker (talk) 23:00, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Railroads?[edit]

It appears that previous authors are confusing two rail lines when this was written: "built in 1906 the electrified Great Falls and Old Dominion Railway (later the Washington and Old Dominion Railway),". The Great Falls and Old Dominion Railway did not become the Washington and Old Dominion Railway. One rail line primarily went down the center of Old Dominion Road. The other went down the path of the W&OD trail. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.241.254.214 (talk) 03:55, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Beverly Hills of Washington DC[edit]

Uncited assertion in lead paragraph "Furthermore, McLean, VA is commonly referred to as the "Beverly Hills" of Washington, DC." I lived in McLean 20 years and never heard such a reference; this article is the only hit in first hundred Google pages for such a reference; and if anything Chevy Chase Md would have better claim to any such title (I can find actual cites for C.C. as the B.H. of D.C.). If no one can add a legitimate reference (including a third-party reference that the term is "commonly" used), I will delete (based on lack of source, not on my personal belief there is no such use). I have lived over half my life in Falls Church, immediately adjacent to McLean, and have avidly read the local media during that time. I have NEVER heard McLean referred to as the Beverly Hills of D.C. I think this is poppycock... Tysons Corner is not in Mclean[edit]

The article mentions several companies that are "headquartered in Mclean" that actually have their headquarters in Tysons Corner (Booz Allen Hamilton, SAIC, MicroStrategy, and Capital One). Also, the first Apple store was at the Tysons Corner mall, which is also not in Mclean. All these places are within a mile or two of the Mclean border and the area is often called Mclean, but they aren't within the area on the map that is also included in the article so that may be confusing to readers who are interested in the distinction. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.151.13.8 (talk) 17:25, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There was no way to modify the very first paragraph of the Article. There are TWO McLean zip codes: 22101 and 22102. The former is by far the more residential of the two, with 22102 largely in the Tysons area. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.73.114.55 (talk) 16:38, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would say that Tysons Corner has evolved into its own city over the last few years. Half of the businesses call themselves part of McLean and the other half call themselves part of Vienna, since Tysons Corner is almost right zip in the middle of the two. Now, the Tysons Partnership markets the whole area as Tysons: America's Next Great City.

Check it out here

As an effort to clean up the pages of this area, I think Tysons should necessitate the removal of local characteristics from the McLean and Vienna pages. The businesses in the area only use the old names due to the zip codes, but now they have their own identity. Read the Tysons page for more info.
