Does anyone have any idea why the name Meijer, the last name of the man who founded the success meijer had after the death of his father, spelled with a lowercase "m"??? 24.210.72.85 (talk) 02:38, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the addition for the following reasons:
  • Grammatical errors: The addition had a significant number of grammatical errors, including capitalization issues, missing apostrophes, "insure" vs "ensure", etc.
  • Phrasing issues: The addition included phrases such as "created by a man named Chris" and "large company called Meijer", both phrases that are unnecessary (Just say "created by Chris" for example). Other parts also read like a personal essay.
  • Advertising language: A lot of the addition read as promotional, such as "bakery items made fresh daily, over 400 different bulk food bins [...] and even health supplement products" (emphasis my own), "continues to thrive in the leadership roles".
  • Content issues: Wikipedia does not list exact addresses of specific locations with store times, and the addition needlessly focuses on the Downer's Grove location. --Cerebral726 (talk) 15:27, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fresh Thyme Market is an Illinois based grocery chain owned by a company called Meijer. Its headquarters is located in Downers Grove Illinois, and It was created by Chris Sherrell.
Each location is about 24,000 to 28,000 square feet in size[1]

Chris has over 20 years of experience with natural and fresh products. In September 2012, the inspiration grew from a store called "Sunflower Farmers Market" and "Sprouts Farmers Market" found in Pheonix. He started off as a regular hourly employee then later became Ceo of the "Sunflower Farmers Market" just after 8 years of being there.
He then was brought into the Fresh Thyme market and succeeded for over 7 years.
After the closing of 3 stores near Nebraska, Iowa, and Omaha, Chris handed over the business to Gerald Melville. [2]
"I founded Fresh Thyme Farmers Markets in 2012 to bring a new and exciting grocery concept to the Midwest." a quote by Chris Sherrell after handing over the Ceo title to a previous Meijer executive, Gerald Melville. [3]

Gerald comes with experience in the industry by working as Vice president for Meijer. Hes considered a 39 year professional in the business and handled heading operations for over 50 Meijer supercenters.
He was voted as number 7 on "Progressive Grocer’s 2019 Super 50". [4]
“I’m very pleased about this exciting opportunity,” noted Melville. “I’m looking forward to joining the team and working together to continue the company’s growth and success.” said Gerald after receiving ownership of Fresh Thyme Market[5]
Fresh Thymes first store to ever open was in Mount Prospect, Illinois then shortly after came the Downers Grove location which opened back in April 29, 2015. [6]
Since their opening in 2015 Fresh Thyme has decided to make Downers Grove their Corporate Headquarters Location.

It's still way too promotional. Phrases like "over 20 years of experience", "just after 8 years", "succeeded for over 7 years", "considered a 39 year professional", etc, don't belong in a Wikipedia article. Your bolded phrases should be section headers. There are too many quotes. “I’m very pleased about this exciting opportunity,” add nothing to the article. Sherrell was CEO of Sunflower Farmers Market before founding Fresh Thyme.

Too much history[edit]

I don't know how, but much of the ordinary history ended up in the "Other Meijer-owned stores" section. I have moved it back to the History section, but now that section seems way too long. Do we really need all the news about stores opening in Sheboygan or Cincinnati? Also can someone figure out a way to divide the overly-long history into subsections? Not a minor edit[edit]

@42-BRT: Could you please separate this edit [1] into separate pieces, one for the section rearrangement, one for the cite edits, one for moving the photos around, and more if necessary? It's hard for me to tell what you did with it all rolled into one, but at least some of it is no good, for example you've got the photos in the wrong sections.
