Incorrect Player[edit]

The stats in this article refer to Muhammad Usman, not Mohammad Usman. The reference is to the latter and birth date is taken from there, but the stats and debut information is for the prior. Muhammad Usman has actually played ODI and T20I cricket for the UAE and so this article presumably is intended to be about him.

The result of the move request was: Target was db-move tagged. Answered. It appears that some editors tried to give this the current title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Please do not do that again. Mohammad Usman (cricketer) → Muhammad Usman (cricketer) – The match information text refers to Muhammad Usman http://www.espncricinfo.com/wcl-championship-2015-17/content/player/974719.html who has played ODI and T20 cricket for the UAE. The Cricinfo reference and dob are incorrect for this player and instead refer to a non-international UAE played called Mohammad Usman http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/927445.html. They are not the same player and the biography is about the prior, international player. Currently Muhammad Usman (cricketer) redirects here but in fact should be its own entry Bs1jac (talk) 10:04, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've got to the bottom of this (I think). This page should be at Muhammad Usman (cricketer) and the current title should be for this guy who debuted today. Commment Sorry if this is not clear (and I realise I originally pasted the same cricinfo link twice). The article discusses a different player to that in the reference. The date of birth matches the player in the reference, but the prose is about the current international player (spelt 'Muhammad'). If you follow the current reference to Cricinfo, you see the player shown has not played any international cricket, contrary to the prose of the article, confirming it is the wrong player. There needs to be two separate articles, or the alternative is to rewrite this article to be about the younger player with no international appearances (probably not warranting a page right now) and create a new page for 'Muhammad Usman (cricketer, born 1985)', or change the references and dob info to be about the international player discussed in the prose. It seems that even within Cricinfo articles they sometimes refer to the other player. For example, he is making his debut in today's game, but I suspect this might be an error that will be corrected later. Both are currently listed in the Cricinfo player list for UAE (http://www.espncricinfo.com/uae/content/player/country.html?country=27). Either way they appear to be different players (confusingly!) Indeed today's scorecard has been corrected on Cricinfo to reflect that the player involved was Muhammad Usman not a debutant.
