Photo[edit]

I am somewhat new to wikipedia and I think I found a photo that can be used for this page but am not sure how to place it. It is the official photo of Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman listed on her official Lieutenant Governor website. It is the work of the Government and I think it is ok to place, I know the official photo of Jerry Brown photo from his Attorney General website was placed. Could someone place it for me, assuming it can be placed. Thank You.

Only works created by the federal government are automatically in the public domain. It's up to the states themselves to decide if state government-created works are, and Connecticut does not have such a statute, as far as I know. Therefore, unless there is a clear notice that the photo of Wyman has been released into the public domain or that it may be used freely, it cannot used. Hopefully, however, someone will take a picture of Wyman when she is at a public event or something like that and will upload that photo to be used on her article. --Sgt. R.K. Ok, thanks. Is it possible to contact Wyman’s office and ask permission for the photograph to be used? (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:39, 23 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Personally, I'd hold off on doing that right now. Someone granting permission for an image to appear on Wikipedia is not enough; images have to be licensed so as to allow readers to reuse them for other purposes not related to the encyclopedia articles found here.
