Ok, time to compile up a quick list on here... This list will show... each character's information came from... in other words, current volume of completeness.

• 1: Sayo Aizaka - Volume 6+ Note: (Not sure WHERE after volume six, but after volume six)
• 2: Yuna Akashi - Volume 4-5 (At most here... don't recall where her information showed up at the start of a chapter... I'm thinking Volume 4, but it might have been 5, so...)

It looks like the anime has taken a major departure from the manga storyline from episode 23+ with the death of a major character. But I doubt it would be appropriate to include this information in the article. --Noel H. June 17th, 2005

Kotarou is described as being a 'feminist' for being unable to hit a women unless she is a powerful fighter. This is a poor description. If he were a feminist, he'd hit men and women equally. A better word to use would be 'chivalrous'. And I'll be changing it to that.

Note for Evangeline

In Negi's class folder, Takamichi has written under Evangeline's picture: "Ask her advice if you're in trouble" ("Talk to her if you have any problems" in the Chuang-Yi version) which is an incorrect translation of the original sentence saying "Komatta toki soudan shinasai" ("If in trouble, ask for assistance"). Since Eva is a bitter enemy of Negi who does anything but help him, it is obviously inconsistent. It probably originally meant that if Eva causes trouble, Negi has to request help from the Dean and others (the Dean knows about the wizards).

EDIT: I won't delete everything that had been written here, but I must point out that it was not translated incorrectly. In the anime it referred to this note on the roster in the same way as it had been translated in DelRey's version. And it might not be a mistake after all as later in the series Eva does help Negi. • You know, if COULD be a double-meaning thing. "If in trouble, ask for assistance" can be interpreted both ways. Notice how one of the first things Eva said during all the chaos was "If you talk to Takamichi or the Headmaster about this, your students are going to suffer for it." Following this theory, it's safe to assume that Negi, being more than a little naive, would have assumed that it meant "ask for her if you need help", not the other way around... all in all, it's hard to tell. Shrink wrap

"The end result was Del Rey's decision to release the book uncensored, but sealed in shrinkwrap to prevent prying eyes. This in turn caused miscontent among manga collectors, as the shrink-wrapping sometimes causes damage to the manga novel."

Shrink-wrapping is the norm for tankōbons in Japan. Is it different in the States? —Tokek 05:10, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

Generally no, the only shrinkwrapped manga I have bought those marked as for 16+ such as Del Rey's Negima, and I think Tokyopop's Remote may have been as well? Shiroi Hane 04:28, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

Negima pre-history

Working on some information for the article. Not ready for publising yet so putting here for now, corrections gladly accepted.

Events that (so far) occur only in the anime and dates that differ from the manga are in italics.

• 1968 - Nagi Sringfield born.
• 1983 - Photo taken of a band of mages; Nagi Springfield, Eishun Konoe, Takamichi T. Takahata, Gatou, "Colonel Sanders", and one other as yet unnamed person.
• 1985 - Nagi and the head of the Kansai magic association seal the demon Sukuna.
• 1988 - Nagi places Infernus Scholasticus curse on Evangeline.
• 1988 April 21 - Kagurazaka Asuna born.
• 1988 October 23 - Kagurazaka Asuna born.
• 1993 - Nagi is declared official deceased.
• 1993 - Negi Springfield born
• 1993 October 22 - The town where Asuna is living (probably in or near Germany) is attacked by demons and set on fire. Asuna makes a contract the head demon who grants her magic immunity in return for having only 10 more years to live.
• 1994 - Nagi disappears while protecting Asuna from a demon.
• 1997 - Negi's hometown is attacked by demons and set on fire. Most of the population are petrified, however Negi and Nekane are saved by Nagi who then passes his wand on to his son.
• 1998 - Negi rescues Albert Chamomile from an animal trap.

Most dates are approximate, since references tend to be rather vague and I'm not good at calculating in months and years. I also need to double check a few of the dates so consider this a very rough first draft. Shiroi Hane

Manga Timeline

Since the old timeline has been removed I'm going to make some notes of confirmed dates from the manga, usually sourced from Nodoka's magical diary.

• 2nd April 2003 - Chapter 16 (Assuming date refers to start of Spring term)
• 20th April 2003 - Chapter 27
• 24th April 2003 (Thu) - Chapter 38/39 (mistranslated as Wednesday by Del Rey)
• 6th May 2003 - Chapter 60
• 20th June 2003 (Fri) - Chapter 83

Some inexact dates included for reference:

• 2nd April 2003 - date on letter received in chapter 15
• 4th June 2004 - date on letter seen in Chapter 27
