Primary topic[edit]

Now that he has been promoted, can we treat the UK MP Richard Leonard as the primary meaning? Might we treat this as "no primary topic", or perhaps even treat the Scots politician as primary? PatGallacher (talk) 17:55, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say for now there's no primary topic, but if he were to become first minister then this would obviously become the most recognisable use of the name. This is Paul (talk) 20:24, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Leonard was born in Yorkshire. The title of the entry is "Richard Leonard (Scottish politician)"

The title of the entry should be amended for accuracy as Mr Leonard, being English, cannot be called a Scottish politician. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.44.131.5 (talk) 18:54, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

He's not even a member of a Scottish registered political party. Labour in Scotland is just the branch office of the national party registered in England Lance Tyrell2.101.150.41 (talk) 17:14, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Leonard (Scottish politician)Richard Leonard (politician) – The other politician is known as Dick, not Richard. Unreal7 (talk) 17:03, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. Irrelevant. His name is still Richard and Hansard lists him as Richard Leonard. This is the best way to avoid confusion between the two. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:59, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Doesn't seem like a helpful move. You'd still have a disambiguated title but a hatnote would probably become necessary to avoid any confusion. PC78 (talk) 17:21, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

. (closed by non-admin page mover) Richard Leonard (Scottish politician)Richard Leonard – Per WP:MULTIDABS. The page has far greater notability than the other articles the disambiguation page lists according to a Google search and page views. Alex (talk) 16:22, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Support. Per reasons cited above. Kirkworld (talk) 10:56, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support - Leonard is a leader of a political party in Scotland and therefore is notable JLo-Watson (talk) 21:14, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
