It is not neutral POV to list 4 (controversial) works authored by the subject of this article as the only additional sources.

Why are editorial comments aloowed in the "article " page - us nuts have plenty of space on the "discussion" page. Where is the goof from Reed College who runs this place - that should get him here. Lock the first page - let stupidity stay untouched - fight it out one this page. All Global Baloney, political, religious, holocaust, etc in particular. The fastest typing goof is dominating the intellectual? discussion, let's not let him get the article too. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 159.105.80.92 (talkcontribs) 13:40, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

ddt[edit]

Does anyone else have a problem with the sentence following Bailey's excerpted quote on DDT:

There is no evidence to support the claim that there was ever such a complete ban supported by the United Nations.

Bailey's quote does not claim that a complete ban was supported by the United Nations. It states that anti-DDT activists campaigned for a world-wide ban. If no one objects, I think this sentence should be deleted. Bobo81 (talk) 21:53, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning of phrase "global warming"[edit]

The phrase "global warming" has two meanings. We need to make clear which one we are using, especially if we are going to say he changed his views.

In the slogan, "Global warming is real", a speaker or writer usually is referring the theory of Anthropogenic global warming (AGW) which ascribes most of the last 50, 100 or 150 years' atmospheric warming to human causes (such as greenhouse gas emissions).

In a more general (or scientific) sense, "global warming" simply refers to any increase in atmospheric temperature (regardless of cause).

Both sides of the global warming debate agree that there has been measurable warming since around 1850. The two sides do not disagree about the reality of the increase, but on the cause.

However, some people use the word "real" to refer to the AGW theory, i.e., they are saying the theory which explains the warming is true. Unfortunately, the same words can also mean that the warming really did occur.

I hope we can make the distinction, rather than blurring it. --Uncle Ed (talk) 17:31, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
