Requested move 25 September 2020[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. The result of the move request was: move the first three as requested, create redirect Samuel Perez (admiral) to Samuel Perez Jr., and retarget Samuel Perez to the disambiguation, per comments in the discussion. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:54, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

– No WP:PRIMARYTOPIC so DAB should be at base name. The spelling for the pianist has an acute accent, the footballer is known as "Samu Pérez", and the admiral doesn't use junior in his WP:COMMONNAME, so all of these have to be fixed and disambiguated properly. Ortizesp (talk) 13:15, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. There is no primary topic by page views. After the move of the pianist article, Samuel Perez should redirect to Samuel Pérez as {{R to diacritics}}, and links fixed. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:06, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose moving dab page. Move Samuel Perez to Samuel Pérez per https://www.samuel-perez.com/ and Authority Control[1][2] but avoid unnecessary artificial qualifiers. Neutral on Samuel Pérez Fariña as that has nothing to do with the others since both the current and proposed titles are already naturally disambiguated. Oppose moving Samuel Perez Jr. per WP:NATURAL; its almost always better to use a person's real name rather than an artificial qualifier. Station1 (talk) 17:58, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • The WP:COMMONAME of the admiral seems to always omit the Jr, so I think a disambiguator is required. And the footballer is sometimes known as just "Samuel Pérez" so a DAB page should be required. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ortizesp (talkcontribs) 21:41, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • References to the admiral do not always omit the "Jr". See for example [3], [4], [5], [6]. Since "Jr" is sometimes used and is a natural disambiguator, it should be preferred. And if the footballer is sometimes but not primarily known as simply Samuel Pérez, he definitely deserves an entry on a dab page, but would not need to displace the title of the pianist who is always known as Samuel Pérez. • Support per nom, no PRIMARYTOPIC. GiantSnowman 19:36, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The pianist is not a primary topic. Search results favour the footballer, page views the admiral. Also, retarget Samuel Perez to the dab as {{R from ambiguous term}}. It doesn't even have any incoming links to fix. Certes (talk) 13:27, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
