Notablity[edit]

On October 12, 2008 a Notability tag was placed on the main article that said:

This article may not meet a proposed guideline for notability (see Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Albums, singles and songs). If you are familiar with the subject matter, please expand or rewrite the article to establish its notability. The best way to address this concern is to reference published, third-party sources about the subject. If notability cannot be established, the article is more likely to be considered for redirection, Wikipedia:Merge, or deletion, per Wikipedia:Guide to deletion.

On October 24, 2008 IP 137.140.128.84 removed the tag with the rationale "This album is obviously notable: it's on a notable record label, and was produced by a notable musician/producer. It meets the requirements." There was no change to the article aside from the deletion of the tag. The tag was placed on the page in order to assist Editors in expanding this article. It's removal, with no changes being made, does not help the article meet guidelines for notability, thusly may be subject to deletion.

Using the guidelines found at Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (music) this article does not currently meet the guidelines. The article does not establish that it's subject has received "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."

There are currently no Wikipedia Policies or Guidelines that state that any release on a "notable record label", or a release by a well known artist, to be provided automatic "Notability" status and exclude an article about the release from having to follow guidelines.

Editors who are familiar with certain topics may make false assumptions that, because they are aware of it, others must be aware of the article subjects notability as well. As English Wikipedia is freely available to readers around the world one should never make that assumption and always attempt to provide verifiable references and sources that are independent of the subject. 137.140.128.84's rationale was wrong as subjects do not inherit notability from related/parent topics and must it be shown through independent coverage. However, after a brief Google search and reading the AMG review, I believe there is some evidence of notability, though expansion is still necessary.
