Birthplace[edit]

The article for Toowoomba lists Price as being from there. Can we verify his birthplace and include it in his article?--Jeff79 22:16, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tests[edit]

Hasn't he played 10 tests for Aus? Londo06 10:16, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was leave Steve Price as disambig page Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:00, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have requested that an admin return page to Steve Price, from where it was moved without discussion last night. The disambiguation page that was put in its place has been moved to Steve Price (disambiguation). Nearly all of the links that currently point to Steve Price refer to the rugby league player. • Oppose No evidence that he is the most notable person under that name. 3 other people with the same name each appear to be notable. TJ Spyke 21:28, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support return of Steve Price (rugby) to Steve Price.

There used to be a disambig page for Steven Price - what happened to that? Regardless of any perceived opinions of notability, the rugby league player's page needs to be changed to (rugby league) without having to go through two redirects to get there!  florrie  00:39, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Support, having looked at the other articles, they cover two obscure broadcasters, and a drummer in a minor Californian pop/rock band. Compared to a representative footballer with multiple games at State of Origin and International level, I think that it's obvious that Steve Price the footballer is the most notable one. I also had a look at the pages that link to Steve Price (here), and I would estimate that as many as 90%+ refer to the footballer rather than one of the others. Either way, if this move is not successful, this article should at least be moved to Steve Price (rugby league). Lankiveil (speak to me) 06:25, 24 April 2009 (UTC).[reply]
  • Support move: The athlete Steve Price appears to be the primary topic for Steve Price. The pageview evidence is not ideal in this case, as it could have been drawing traffic from people looking for other Steve Prices, but the google and gnews results lean the same way. The athlete is "significantly more commonly searched for and read" than the other Steve Prices, and that, not notability, is the criterion. Baileypalblue (talk) 06:27, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose move. The now-Sydney-based broadcaster Steve Price is at least as well known as the rugby player, especially outside of the rugby states. I'm surprised he's not at Steve Price, but a disambiguation page is certainly appropriate otherwise. Any issues with links would be because of past errors; this should have been either disambiguated or gone directly to the broadcaster from the very beginning Rebecca (talk) 14:19, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Steve Price, the footballer, isn't only known in the "rugby states" (whichever they are) - he is an international footballer currently playing in New Zealand and is also a known name in England. On the other hand, not living in Sydney or Melbourne, I have never heard of a Steve Price on a radio station. It's all relative, I suppose.  florrie  16:04, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Evidently so. This is why I think a disambiguation is more appropriate here. Rebecca (talk) 16:47, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
According to WP:DISAMBIG there is a "code of honour" that says the moving editor should fix all the links, but it isn't policy and I don't see it happening. Quite a few of the links will be in templates so it shouldn't take too long to fix them manually. So can we just do it? I have the day off and can work on the links while I watch the Raiders.  florrie  03:42, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am happy to attack that task using AWB, but I will have to wait until there is some closure on this discussion. dramatic (talk) 08:39, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Already done.  florrie  14:10, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose move. It doesn't really matter who is the most notable out of the Steve Prices, as there are several who hold this name that have articles on Wikipedia than a disambig page is appropiate and Steve Price should redirect to it. Cheers, Abraham, B.S. (talk) 06:16, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Commment - Abraham, I am not sure if you understand the focus of this debate. The editors are trying to establish whether or not there is a primary topic for the term "Steve Price". Your oppose doesn't seem to address that issue. Not all searches for multiple people with the same name, who have articles on wikipedia redirect to disambig pages. See George Washington, for example.ƒingersonRoids 00:17, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
