Jordan tells the reader, "Life is short. Live! Indulge! Slather!"[1]

"There is something magical about the combination of ingredients. It has everything. The smoky flavor, fat, the acid of the tomatoes, the lusciousness of the mayonnaise and toasted bread," she comments.[2]

Other books by Jordan include The New Cook's Tour of Sonoma and California Home Cooking.[3] The author is the recipient of a 1997 James Beard Award and Small Press Cookbook of the Year Award.[3] In 2003, Jordan resided in Sonoma County, California.[4]

"Not simply a cookbook, the little handbook is a discourse on the sandwich that is elegant enough to coax even the most virtuous eaters to gobble pork fat and mayonnaise with abandon."

Okay, looks like three (3) sources were removed here, I'll see if there's a better way to incorporate those without losing them completely. — Cirt (talk) 00:08, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
