Premature obituaries and criticism section[edit]

The Telegraph was founded 168 years ago in 1855. The "Premature obituaries" subsection in the "Criticism" section lists three examples in The Telegraph's history of publishing premature obituaries. The only source for this is a 2001 article by a journalist in The Telegraph itself. Is this really "criticism"? Many media outlets in many countries do occasionally print mistakes or occasionally publish premature obituaries, often due to a technical or human error. In my view the "Premature obituaries" subsection is WP:UNDUE in the criticism section, as apart from the journalist in The Telegraph mentioning three mistakes made in different years, there is no other reference to state The Telegraph was criticised for these errors.

In the subsection "Accusation of antisemitism" there is only one person, Owen Jones of The Guardian, who has made the accusation of antisemitism against The Telegraph for publishing articles which have espoused a Cultural Marxism / antisemitic conspiracy theory. Apart from an op-ed / Guardian column from Jones, there is no other person listed in a reference who has accused The Telegraph of antisemitism. In my view, the "Accusation of antisemitism" subsection may also be WP:UNDUE given the absence of criticism regarding this from anybody in a reference apart from Owen Jones.

Guidelines at WP:CRIT also state: "In most cases separate sections devoted to criticism, controversies, or the like should be avoided in an article because these sections call undue attention to negative viewpoints." Kind Tennis Fan (talk) 01:13, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
