Move?[edit]

Hi Samee! While you are a WP:PMR and you have moved the page from Tariq to Apa saying "per common use", have you discussed this anywhere? I disagree this move; either move it to correct form "Aapa", or better I suggest to shift it back to Tariq. Thanks! M. Billoo 20:36, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

M.Billoo2000 It was a simple move (not with PMR) per WP:BOLD, which encourages users to be bold when updating the encyclopedia. According to WP:UCRN, Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers to use the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources. This includes usage in the sources used as references for the article. Although official, scientific, birth, original, or trademarked names are often used for article titles, the term or name most typically used in reliable sources is generally preferred. Other encyclopedias are among the sources that may be helpful in deciding what titles are in an encyclopedic register, as well as what names are most frequently used. The following reliable sources refer to her as Zubaida Apa (personally I also prefer Aapa spellings but majority of reliable sources use Apa.)

At present, Zubaida Aapa redirects here. If you still think it's a bad move or if you want to contest it, please request at WP:RM.  sami  talk 21:17, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rms125a@hotmail.com! Now you moved it back, saying over redirect? I don't know what to say, but please check this section of talk page. As Samee was right, most of the RS say as "Apa", a minor of them say "Aapa", and there is nothing bad in using UCRN. Thanks! M. Billoo 13:18, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with move of this article to Zubaida apa. Her name is Zubada Tariq, and article should be based on it. --Spasage (talk) 14:59, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. It should continue to be Zubaida Tariq. --Spasage (talk) 14:59, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak Support. Zubaida Apa is more commonly used. Having said that, Zubaida Tariq is her official full name. So, it works both ways. Not a big issue.  M A A Z   T A L K  11:50, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose (and support move back to Zubaida Tariq without the needless disambiguation). Sources tend to use both names approximately equally (with a slight preference to Tariq) and given that, we should prefer her birth name over a name with a familiar term. Aapa is "the Urdu honorific for elder sister" per [10]. (i.e. Milton Berle, not Uncle Miltie). power~enwiki (π, ν) 02:08, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
