Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Template talk:Elections in Alabama which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 09:06, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recall elections[edit]

@Asdasdasdff Now that a page for the 2012 general senate elections exists, should the Recalls for that year be formated similar to other special elections in general election years (such as 2020 and the 7th congressional district special). So 2012 (recall)? Or are they notable enough that they should be kept as is? Talthiel (talk) 14:30, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think the 2012 recalls can remain their own article because it's such a unique situation. But I should have made reference to the recalls in the article. -- Asdasdasdff (talk) 15:44, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, I meant within this template, should the spot in the elections template be formated as "2012 (recall)2012" or as "2012 (recall)" (basically should the template leave the recalls as a separate event or should they be moved into a parenthesis of the General, as they're in the same year, like how the special elections for the 2020 congressional election, so 2020 (7th sp) are formatted @Asdasdasdff. Apologies if I am not being very clear. Talthiel (talk) 15:55, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see. I kind of like that change. -- Asdasdasdff (talk) 16:12, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner[edit]

@Asdasdasdff So I was doing some searching and I remembered the Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner was an elected office from 1881 until 1911, So do you think we could include that office on the sidebar? I intend to include it in pages for Wisconsin elections in the years the office was elected, but could we also include it on the sidebar template, or should we leave it out like we do the Superintendant of Public Instruction? Talthiel (talk) 18:57, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think both insurance and public instruction belong in the sidebar if there are articles for their elections. Also prison commissioner was a statewide elected office at one point. -- Asdasdasdff (talk) 19:02, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What about Lieutenant governor elections, could, or should, we include them too? (to ask as a side-question) Talthiel (talk) 19:20, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if those older LG races should just be included as a section of the gubernatorial election article for that year rather than as their own article. I could go either way. If they have their own article, they should be included on the sidebar imo. -- Asdasdasdff (talk) 19:35, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking we could include them in the year's election articles as a section, so for example having a Lieutenant Governor section in "1956 Wisconsin elections."
Additionally, would being a section of another page warrant inclusion in the sidebar? Since the Madison and Green Bay mayoral elections are included, even though they redirect readers to sections of the list articles for each city's mayoral elections. Talthiel (talk) 19:46, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, not sure. The Madison and Green Bay elections used to be separate articles that subsequently got merged, and I don't think anyone ever adjusted the sidebar. I don't have strong feelings either way. -- Asdasdasdff (talk) 04:03, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
