Template Information[edit]

This template will be appended to the bottom of each Iowa Representative's article in the Wikipedia. Elections are held every two years at the same time as the national elections - so information on this template will become outdated at that time. The information in this template came from here.

Do NOT "subst:" this template, as information in the template is changed periodically. --Tim4christ17 talk 13:48, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a problem with linking every name to a Wikipedia page in that most do not have their own pages, and they link to different people. For example, try Pat Murphy. Is there a faster way to fix it than to change each entry one at a time? stemperm 06:42, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your concern - I am presently working on creating articles for each individual legislator (I will begin with the house incoming in 2007). Unfortunately, since the information is being compiled from more than one source, there is no automatic way to do it. However, I am working from a fairly simple "template" - Steve Warnstadt, the senator from Iowa Senate district 1, is my "template" article for state legislators. I am also individually disambiguating the names using the format "name (Iowa politician)" when the current name is in use and adding a note to the top of the article with the legislator's name in it and/or disambiguation page for the name. If you would like to help with this project, feel free to - but please follow the format found at Steve Warnstadt. It may not be the best format, and eventually more personalized information will be needed for the entries, but it's a good place to start. --Tim4christ17 talk 05:46, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update[edit]

I've updated the code into the template, but have yet to update committee assignments - I'll be doing that updating over the course of the next week or so. --Tim4christ17 talk 17:46, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All articles have been created, committee assignments have been updated. --Tim4christ17 talk 23:26, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Status August 2010[edit]

There are still five Republican members who need articles. All existing member articles have had the External links section updated, including adding the new Follow the Money 'career profile' link to the CongLinks template (replacing the old method of having to link each year separately).
