The idea that I can contribute directly to a planet-wide body of knowledge appeals to me. What I can contribute is a certain expertise in applied math, gained via a B.S. in math from MIT and a Ph.D. from NYU's Courant Institute. Since I've published papers in mathematical biology, information theory, and quantitative finance, I expect to insert my two cents into the mix in these areas ...

I should also explain that my 14 year old is very impressed that his dad is editing Wikipedia.
