Shadow Generations premise[edit]

In 2005, the Black Arms invaded Earth, leading Shadow to confront them in order to remember his past and while discovering his link with Black Doom, the Black Arms' leader. Meanwhile, in 2011, Doctor Eggman found the Time Eater and used it to travel back in time and undo his past defeats against Sonic, with his younger self's help.

As a result of their actions, Black Doom managed to survive his last encounter with Shadow by travelling from 2005 to 2011. Now alive in the future, Black Doom resumes his plans to rebuild his army and rule the world, while Shadow must face him once again.
