Mariener is a Dutch brand based in Middelburg that sells sunglasses, ski goggles and mx goggles. Mariener was founded in June 2012 by Marien Klootwijk. Mariener has succesfully completed a crowdfunding campaign to introduce a new matte reflective lens technology that unlike coated mirror lenses, makes their lenses matte from the outside.

Mariener was founded in June of 2012 by Marien Klootwijk, what originally started out as a hobby, it soon grew to larger proportions thanks to the internet. Mariener is currently sold throughout the Netherlands with intentions to expand internationally.
In June 2017, Mariener launched their first crowdfunding campaign through Kickstarter in order to mass produce a new lens coating technology branded "Matte Reflective Lens Technology". By the beginning of July 2017 they succesfully[1] reached their goal and eventually started producing their lenses. They are currently the only brand in the world that has these type of lenses in their line-up.
Product[edit]
Mariener models initially consisted of simple, wayfarer-style sunglasses available in three variations. Through time more value was added with the addition of a flexible polycarbonate frame dubbed "Memory Frame Technology", a hydrophobic coating and eventually polarized lenses on selected models. In later years additional models were introduced, all featuring the same combination of materials. Additionally ski-goggles and motocross goggles were added. Their motocross goggles were popular in particular due to their cooperation with two of the largest supermotard communities in the world, Supermotocentral[2] and Supermofools[3]. Later in 2016, Mariener started working with French Supermoto Youtube vlogger Kikaninac[4].
Mariener products are priced at entry-level, but with the addition of modern technologies, little to no marketing mark-up they are able to keep their prices reasonably priced.
