From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In many parts of the world National Sausage Roll Day, celebrated on October 10, is a day dedicated to the appreciation and enjoyment of the sausage roll. The day is particularly popular in some parts of the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia where, in recent years, a number of annual celebrations have been held to honour the gourmet snack. For example, in the town of Sausage Roll, Nebraska people take part in the Sausage Roll Race where they dress up as sausage rolls and attempt ot complete an assault course. In the similarly named town of Sausage Roll, Queensland, the local townspeople prepare a giant sausage roll in preparation for a giant picnic. In the United Kingdom there are no towns named Sausage Roll, but celebrations are held in many major towns and cities. One of the highlights takes place in London where amateur and professional chefs from around the country take part in a sausage roll baking contest. The winner gets a year's supply of sausage rolls.
