Subjacency[edit]

Subjacency (also known as Bounding Theory, not to be confused with Binding Theory) is a universal constraint on topicalization that prevents movement crossing more than one bounding nodes, which may differ between languages. [1] In English, bounding nodes include AuxP and NP. [citation needed].
