Speedy deletion[edit]

When you have fixed three transclusions I might be willing to delete.RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:47, 15 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly it is a basic principle that if a new title is required, you move the article - you do not copy&paste. Template:latest stable software release/Maxthon has about 190 edits - credit to the authors must be preserved.

But in this case even a move was totally inappropriate. Do you understand what transclusion means in a MediaWiki context? If I had deleted template:latest stable software release/Maxthon, please explain how the release information would be shown in the comparison of web browsers article? Exactly the same goes for Skype except that in this case template:latest stable software release/Skype has more than 800 edits.

Please explain how template:infobox software displays release information.

I have blocked you briefly but I propose that the block should be removed as soon as you provide satisfactory answers to my questions above. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:57, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

At first, you might want to know my intention. I described it here: Wikipedia:Village_pump_(miscellaneous)#Latest_stable_software_release_VS_Multiple_stable_software_releases_Templates.
Let me explain it once more. I just created new pages according to Template:Infobox_web_browser#Different_latest_versions and filled them with apropriate information and asked for deleting the obsolete ones. I made it for Maxthon, because it is web browser, and also for Skype, because Infobox web browser template is derived from Infobox software and therefore it should work fine for both cases in the main Maxthon and Skype pages.
Second thing is about Comparison of web browsers article. I didn't know about this article. Yes, you are right, the change of the name would produce an error in that page. I think, that it is a bug. As I see it, the recommendation of using Multiple stable software releases page here: Template:Infobox_web_browser#Different_latest_versions should be removed in order not to confuse users, because it just don't work well with another pages and templates. There should be just a small recommendation about using just the template from that page (I mean {{Multiple stable software releases ... }}) in the page Latest stable software release. What do you think about this solution?
Finally yes, I understand your intention and it was my mistake. Sorry for me.
*** Could I therefore ask you for deleting both Multiple stable... pages? Because of their presence, the infoboxes on the main Maxthon and Skype pages have now broken association and they are trying to open Multiple stable... pages to edit instead of the Latest stable... pages.
Possibly the another solution would be to add the Multiple stable... template/page into the Comparison of web browsers article as another possibility. I don't know, how the data in this article are built, but there should be some way how to change it. This solution would also require to add this possibility to the Infobox software template (like it is now in the Infobox web browser template) if it is not there. I thought, both infoboxes are almost the same, but as I see it now, they probably aren't.
*** Another thing is, that at this moment the edit links in the Infobox software in Skype article for individual versions (the [+]) refers to Multiple stable... page. I think, that Multiple stable... template is not determined to use in the latest stable... page or I don't know, what does it cause.
Maybe the above issues marked with *** are the same. Dvorapa (talk) 14:28, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Template:Clickable button 3, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
