Stopped working[edit]

I use QPreview all the time, but all of a sudden it stopped working. Is there something wrong with it? --Kraftlos (talk) 10:33, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikEd that you recently installed is incompatible with most other editing scripts, including qPreview. Because of this Cacycle already built qPreview functionality into wikEd: use button below (next to standard "Show preview" button). —AlexSm 14:54, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it wasn't working before I installed wikiEd (and I have uninstalled it now). Could it be anything else? --Kraftlos (talk) 21:22, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Any advice? --Kraftlos (talk) 20:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If it was working for you before and just stopped today - simply bypass your cache. There was an issue today because of MediaWiki change, the script is fixed now. If it didn't work all this time, then 1) please check that you have toolbar enabled in your preferences (qPreview adds its button to the toolbar), 2) let me know your browser and what exactly happens: does "QPreview" button appear at all? —AlexSm 21:56, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'll give more details. QPreview was working until august. I initially thought that it was because I installed WikiEd, however I uninstalled that and it still doesn't work. I am running Firefox 3 and the button does appear on the toolbar. It just doesn't do anything when I click it. --Kraftlos (talk) 20:41, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the script did not work with some early betas of Firefox 3. I just tested and it works fine on the latest Firefox 3.0.1, so I'm not sure if I can fix anything. You can try a very similar script User:Sander_Säde/My_scripts#Script: Quick Preview which did not have issues with Firefox betas. It adds its button to the bottom, next to regular "Preview" button. —AlexSm 14:26, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

QPreview and Popups?[edit]

It seems that QPreview doesn't work with Nav Popups. Could someone else double-check to make sure this isn't just an issue on my end, and if not, add a note to the documentation? —Dinoguy1000 22:01, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What exactly "doesn't work" means? I guess the fact that NavPopup doesn't popup in the generated preview area? Maybe I could patch this by calling setupTooltips() after every update... —AlexSm 23:34, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's pretty much it, NavPopups doesn't do anything in the generated preview area. I actually don't use QPreview a whole lot ( ^_^;; ), and just happened to notice when the normal preview was taking too long to download for me earlier today. --Dinoguy1000 as 66.116.22.178 (talk) 00:53, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please use user:js/ajaxPreview, the documentation explains how to make it compatible with NavPopups. —AlexSm 19:37, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Diffs[edit]

Could you figure out a way to show diffs in this as well? LegoKontribsTalkM 05:19, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Alex provide user:js/diffs script, which does better diff. Unfortunately, it doesn't support diffs show in edit mode, but I remain request for enhancing. -- AVBtalk 14:08, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the question was not about better diff. —AlexSm 14:33, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The answer: yes, it is possible, and in fact I already done this in my local version a long time ago. I was hesitant to update the public version for two reasons: not everybody might like it, and, unlike preview, this would not save any traffic, since there is currently no way to request "raw changes" like "raw preview text". But maybe I'll just go ahead and add the second button anyway... —AlexSm 14:33, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Umm, Legoktm ... unless you remove the background colors, later I'll have to archive remove this distracting section from the page. —AlexSm 14:36, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Heehee... what does that mean for my signature? Dinoguy1000 21:10, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you don't change background colors, so I don't mind that much. Besides, my custom CSS hides all your "enhancements" for me anyway. —AlexSm 19:37, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please use user:js/ajaxPreview, it has the "changes" button, although it doesn't save any traffic (unlike "preview" button). —AlexSm 19:37, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
