Thanks[edit]

for the comments you've been making. You are as ever both principled and generous. I'm doubly sorry we appear to have lost you, and with what's going on off-wiki, my hopes that you are happier doing other things might sound inappropriate. Stay well! August[edit]

August
Sunflowers in Walsdorf

A first for me today: a featured list (= a featured topic in this case) on the Main page, see Wikipedia:Main Page history/2020 August 21, an initiative by Aza24 in memory of Brian. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:18, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rhythm Is It! - I expanded that stub on my dad's birthday because we saw the film together back then, and were impressed. As a ref said: every educator should see it. Don't miss the trailer, for a starter. - A welcome chance to present yet another article by Brian on the Main page, Le Sacre du printemps. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:59, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I like today's Main page, with the TFA on the anniversary day (of both dedication and our concert), - more on my talk, mostly about the tribute to Brian who shared his sources. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:06, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

September by now, and greetings played by Moop Mama, more on my talk, or the Main page ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:49, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all that at ANI, Begoon. You perfectly illustrated WP:ROPE. I had not seen the whole cartoon before, so I do appreciate it. We shall resume in one hour. Facepalm Facepalm BilCat (talk) 12:34, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Heh. You're very welcome 😃. I don't contribute here much any more, but occasionally I happen to see a very stupid game that deserves a very stupid prize and can't hold myself back. Thanks for the thanks. Begoon 13:59, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request for help[edit]

I'm an editor at the Hebrew Wikipedia, and I do not understand English at all. I adore "The Wheel of Time" and write mostly about it. I saw that you created "File: Banner of Light.svg", so I'm turning to you please: I want drawings of the characters to put in their entries. There are currently no such drawings in the wiki, and other drawings have a copyright issue. ילד מסכן וחכם (talk) 22:37, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ילד מסכן וחכם - I'm sorry but for various reasons I'm not really contributing my time here at the moment. I'm afraid that sounds like more work than I'd be able to do right now. There also might be copyright/original research issues as you mention. You could ask at WP:GL/ILL to see if anyone there can help, or has any ideas. My apologies again. Begoon 01:20, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply, I will ask you to forward the request because I do not know English. Thanks again. ילד מסכן וחכם (talk) 01:23, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ילד מסכן וחכם - ok, done, see this request. Any further discussion should take place there. Good luck. Begoon 01:44, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Prayer for Ukraine[edit]

I took this pic in 2009. It was on the German MP yesterday, with the song from 1885, in English Prayer for Ukraine. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:39, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Listening to the charity concert mentioned here. I created the articles of the composer and the soprano. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:51, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

see? - I sat on a bench in the sun and sang it --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:19, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I wish I could have been there to hear that. Gone to flowers, every one. But we never learn. :( Begoon 14:24, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Gerda, I'm kicking myself because I didn't also link this sublime version and I really should have, because I'm a big fan of de Burgh's work. Better late than never, I hope... Begoon 10:10, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Would you consider becoming a New Page Reviewer?[edit]

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months. (Purge)

Hi Begoon,

I've recently been looking for editors to invite to join the new page reviewing team. Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; the new page reviewing team needs help from experienced users.

Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, most pages are easy to review, and habits are quick to develop). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us. If you choose to apply, you can drop an application over at WP:PERM/NPR. If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message on my talk page or at the reviewer's discussion board.

Cheers, and hope to see you around, (t · c) buidhe 17:37, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, El, The funny thing is, it works if you just transclude it outside the ever-so-personal message:
And, while that does remove at least some of the pregnant anticipation for what would show up if the cog ever stopped spinning, it also has a sad lack of fireworks and/or music/dancing people after such a breathless wait, or any sort of idea as to why I got sent the spinning cog in the first place, unless it was just to entertain me for a week or two... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Begoon 13:36, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well that's kind of a let down. I was hoping for a non-chart surprise. Buidhe is such a prankster. No further quneion. El_C 15:18, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for closing[edit]

Thanks for this. Yes, the repetition was odd, wasn't it? I had already seen your comment on AN. Bishonen | tålk 17:00, 27 November 2022 (UTC).[reply]

You're welcome. The whole thing amused me in the end, because some strange person decided it was worth putting {{NAC}} in the middle of my closing comment, then when I reverted them with a "no thanks - please don't edit my comment with something so trivial" they edit-warred the nac back in and posted here to try and pick a fight about it. I honestly couldn't give a shit about crap like that, so I left it alone and memory-holed their whine on this page about it all as not even worth a response. I'm continually astonished by the strange things people think are worth fighting about, and bemused that they don't have better ways to spend their time. I guess that kind of self-important, chest-beating nonsense is why I don't spend much time here any more... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Begoon 09:34, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
