Cluebot IV

The results for this open proxy check don't seem right to me, unless I am not understanding the scope of the bot. Look especially at the DNSRBL section. Also, my nmap check had 1025 and 5000 open, and unless you are actually trying to connect, and declaring it filtered, this makes no sense. The IP is dynamic, but I don't think it changed that quickly. Could you take a look? Prodego ^talk 17:45, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

For the first link the bot provided the summary "Nothing". If you click the more info link, the RBL says "59.93.246.96 is listed as an open proxy in dnsbl.njabl.org.". Am I missing something? Prodego ^talk 23:19, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

The bot checks only a vary small subset of the NJABL list because it contains a bunch of different things, for example, it contains dynamic hosts, SMTP relays, and such. NJABL is not very quick at delisting ip addresses that have been fixed. Furthermore, an RBL is not the best way to detect open proxies. -- Cobi^(t|c|b|cn) 01:37, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Who/how to report vandalism?

Hi! I am very impressed with your ClueBot. I logged in to #wikipedia-VAN to watch it in action, it's cool. I often revert vandalism myself on the pages on my watchlist, and sometimes I check the vandal's contributions page to see if he/she has been messing with other pages. I often find multiple incidences of vandalism by these users, and while I can revert their changes, I have no idea to whom I can report their actions or how to go about it. I cleaned up the IP reports section a bit, and found that many IPs ignore the instruction to fill their IP into the header box. I believe they really don't know about that stuff, so I boldly went ahead and tried to make this very clear here. |dorftrottel |talk 17:21, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

It would be allowed. However, there shouldn't be anti-vandal bots racing each other on the same wiki, so please don't run it on Wikipedia, or on Wikia. Also, Wikipedia's Bot Approval Group will not approve it to run if it will just be racing ClueBot. You need to give credit as ClueBot is released under the GPL. Furthermore, you will need a Linux server, preferably your own, as opposed to a shell account. ClueBot also needs PHP and MySQL.
