Tour of Consumer Reports' laboratories[edit]

Wow! Laboratory tour!

On Tuesday January 15 at 3pm Wikipedians are invited to join a tour of laboratories at Consumer Reports in Yonkers. If you would like to attend please RSVP at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/January 2013. If you have questions feel free to ask on that page or contact me on my talk page or by my office phone at 914.378.2684. Thank you. Blue Rasberry (talk) 20:24, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks for the info! --David Ludwig (talk) 17:11, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry that you cannot attend today. I would still like to meet you sometime and talk about scientific devices. Consumer Reports houses a lot of novel testing equipment which I want to share, and I think you also are trying to find ways to share media for scientific instruments. I also know other people who have science media collections and we are all wondering what to do with them. I leave the country for a month this weekend. Perhaps we can meet sometime in March. I am sorry that I couldn't come to the labs yesterday! Anyway, it would be great to meet up in March - let me know when you're back in New York. --David Ludwig (talk) 22:55, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks. Blue Rasberry (talk) 23:19, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 12[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jaimie Warren, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page URB (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A cup of coffee for you![edit]

Sorry I never met you in NYC. This crazy city has a way of making time go quickly. Best of luck in your travels. Message me if there is anything I can do to support you in Wikimedia projects. There are not many people who are interested in doing photography like you in your field of interest and I would like for you to have a pleasant time here always. Thanks for the mention of Templeton 2013.[edit]

Hi, thanks for mentioning the Templeton 2013 paper you mentioned in one of your recent edit summaries. I just looked it up, and I'd like to give it a thorough read as I ponder improving various articles on Wikipedia. It's always helpful to share good sources. See you on the wiki. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 21:16, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi WeijiBaikeBianji! Yes, Templeton’s papers are very helpful. He makes a really convincing case against human subspecies and explains in detail why human races have no place in standard taxonomies. At the same time, I also think that his arguments are somewhat limited in scope. Researchers in other areas (e.g. biomedicine) follow different classificatory standards and are not concerned with subspecies in the sense of Templeton. (in case you’re interested: I briefly discuss this issue in a forthcoming article on the ambiguity of “race”) --David Ludwig (talk) 23:16, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
