Hi Fitzcarmalan,

I've speedied the article you tagged in your user space, but I've declined all of the articles in article space. Three of them were definitely not eligible, as other editors had made improvements/changes to them. Peter Martyr's mission to Egypt was more of an edge case, because all of the changes by others were typo fixing or updating templates. However, at the end of the day, that article has been incorporated into the encyclopedia enough (incoming links, edits by others) that I don't think G7 applies.

Sorry to see that you're apparently quite frustrated with something. If you decide to return, any admin will be happy to restore the user space draft. If not, then thanks for all your work in the past. --Floquenbeam (talk) 20:21, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I specifically chose the first articles that came to mind in which more than 90% of contributions in terms of byte size (and quality) were mine. They will be re-nominated along with several others, and I hope you will respect my decision this time. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 20:53, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That is really not how it works. This has come up a few times before, and the consensus has been that if someone is leaving because they are angry, they do not get to nominate all of their articles for deletion, even if some of them don't have many contributions from others. I will, of course, delete any drafts in your user space where no one else has contributed. But please don't nominate these articles anymore, I've already declined the {{db-author}} request. --Floquenbeam (talk) 21:28, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see you nominated a few more. Based on the consensus I've seen on this in the past, I'm declining them; the consensus has been that mass nominating articles for WP:CSD#G7 isn't a "good faith" nomination. If you'd like, we can ask at WT:CSD or WP:AN, but from seeing this in the past, I'm fairly confident they won't be deleted. --Floquenbeam (talk) 21:38, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Something going on?[edit]

This is unlike your usual comportment. Can't help but inquire if there's something bothering you? Some circumstances we find ourselves in can be wearying and encourage us to disregard this project entirely and retire after we've already put much though on it previously. If you truly are retiring, thank you for all your previous contributions. I understand the desire, albeit Wikipedia would benefit if you decide to come back in the future which I hope you do. Wikiemirati (talk) 05:30, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I do not know if that matters, but I am willing self-revert on the page Douma chemical attack if that was the reason for you leaving the project (I am not sure). My very best wishes (talk) 18:20, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October![edit]

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2019 election voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:16, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see that your last edit was in September, but I'll extend an invitation anyway to this blurb review ... you were the FAC nom. Enjoy. - Dank (push to talk) 23:48, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you today for Russian occupations of Beirut, introduced (in 2018): "This article covers an unusual series of events in the history of Beirut. In both 1772 and late 1773-early 1774, the city came under brief Russian occupation as part of a wider Russo-Turkish war. It marks the first occupation of its kind for an Arab city and the first time Beirut falls to a European power since the Ottoman conquest of the region in 1516."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:37, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
