Hi, I made some changes, you can see them in the article's history. To add wikilinks (blue links within wikipedia) to articles you have to type [[ and ]] around the term that is to be linked, you can't get that by adding Wikipedia as a reference. Also, I added some categories to the article and removed the image, as you can't get images to appear on Wikipedia by linking externally to them. To add an image you must upload it directly to Wikipedia (click "upload file" in the toolbox to the left under the globe and follow the directions there). From there you can link directly to the name in the file space. Our picture tutorial might be of use here.

Overall the article reads pretty well, and is very good for a start. You should look over our manual of style to see our official guidelines for presentation and also check out some of our other articles on similiar topics to see how they are done. I think the next thing to do is to to organize the article into sections with headers. You can read about how to do this here. If you have any specific questions, the new contributors' help page will probably be a better place to ask than your user talk page, as many editors patrol that page looking for questions to answer about Wikipedia. Thanks for the help, Themfromspace. You definitely made it appear more like a wiki paper. The specific comments were particularly helpful. Good editors are far and few in between. I would try to tackle the headings issue first. Already added the missing refs. Figured out what you meant in re internal refs in wiki.

I am thinking of writing another, related, shorter, entry. In all, I would like to contribute 3-4 short entries, which would serve as anchors to anybody who would like to study the history of alleged judicial corruption and failed attempts at judicial reform in Southern California. I find it to be a subject that is vastly underrepresented in media, textbooks, etc. These would be short papers, small landmarks, but at least they would provide some entry point to others.

I have not figured out the tagging system at all. If you could give me a hint, or add alleged judicial corruption/failed attempted at judicial reform, as tags, I would be grateful. --InproperinLA (talk) 00:29, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

You should try posting this question over at the new contributors' help desk, that page is watched by a lot of editors interested in helping editors like you. Regarding controversial articles, you should always try to maintain a neutral point of view while editing. Even the most controversial subjects can be maintained through a neutral point of view, though it may take some policing and a lot of references. If controversial material is added which is not backed up by references it may be removed. If the article is about a living person and controversial material is added without references is should be removed per our policy on biographies of living people.

Musings

Writing these entries had a strange effect on me. First - I thought I knew the stories pretty well when I set down to write. I then concluded I had major gaps. Second - I was glued. In both cases I wrote the majority of the material in one sitting, for more hours than I would like to admit, but is nevertheless recorded.

Was the Rampart scandal investigation "massive"?

In attempt to address the question of the use of the word "massive" and its connotation two simple steps were taken: 1) search wikipedia for "massive,and 2) search google web, and google images for "massive.

Results of the searches are presented below.

Conclusion (tentative) the word had diverged in recent years, unbenown to this writer, and younger people may have associated it primarily with fictional video games. Older, bio-medical oriented persons, may see it as part of standard professional parlance as is "massive coronary".

A couple of points. First, the basic choices are Delete or Keep, not 'oppose' or 'support'. And only once, please. All you are doing with continually writing 'oppose delete' is confusing things. Secondly, there is no 'moderation', this is the process for deletion. If an article is deleted there's a review process. Would you please indent your replies, using the appropriate number of :'s or *'s. It makes discussions easier to read. And very important, discussions about deletion are not votes. The closing editor or adminstrator will look at those arguments based on Wikipedia's policies and guidelines when making a decision. Sorry for the delay, I've been on vacation. The delete voters have some very good points about this article, so I suggest reading what they have to say and looking over the policy pages that they point to. Since I helped you with it, I don't think it would be fitting to give an honest evaluation of the article, but I do have some advice if the article gets deleted. I would suggest you ask the deleting administrator if you would be able to host a copy in your user space. If he agrees (this should happen unless he feels that the article can't be created without it being libelous) you could work on the draft in a public environment, but it wouldn't be treated as an article, so our notability guidelines wouldn't necessitate its deletion. If you are able to build up the article to meet the issues addressed at the deletion debate (notability will be the hardest for this to meet - this is done by providing evidence that the subject has recieved significant attention from reliable, third-party sources), you can then import the draft into the mainspace. The "Rampart-FIPs" article was really a WP:COATRACK for issues unrelated to the Rampart scandal. I see no harm in redirecting "Rampart-FIPs" to the main article, but I see no benefit either. --Weazie (talk) 19:13, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

It was deleted by the prod route, so should be restored on request. I could have started a AFD|deletion discussion as it is a disputed prod, but it seems harmless to me as a redirect - if anyone want to salvage material from its history to add to the main article they can now do so. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. Unused logo with no article used, it's also can't move to commons because of an unused logo will be deleted as of out of project scope.
