Bad mood[edit]

{{helpme|Is anyone there? I am in a bad mood, it is late, and Moon ridden girl is taking too long to give me a barnstar/smile.}}Kitty53 (talk) 04:50, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is not an appropriate use of the help me template at all, as TenPoundHammer already warned you about above. Wikipedia is not a social network nor a forum to ask for pick me ups. Regularly begging for barnstars and smiles is frowned upon and considered poor etiquette. Collectonian (talk) 04:57, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm very sorry for violating the rule again, Collectonian. I am not 100% experienced with Wikipedia. I sometimes can't help myself.Kitty53 (talk) 06:07, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Its okay, but you should learn not to rely so much on the help me, as others may lose patience with it soon. Have you read any of the tutorial pages for Wikipedia? They can help a lot with the basic editing information. Collectonian (talk) 06:09, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Kitty53. Remember me? I hope you feel better soon. Coppertwig (talk) 02:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Matthias Hinze response[edit]

Question[edit]

{{helpme}}

I realize some users get banned for various reasons, including vandalism, evading bans and blocks and bans with sockpuppets/second, third, or forth or so accounts, personal attacks, incivility, edit warring, "exhausting the community's patience," whatever that means, death threats, "trolling (whatever that is)," POV pushing, and blackmailing. Can you give me more info on that? It sounds scary. P.S. I used the helpme template here with the same question on Collectonian's talk page, yes, I put it on her talk page, but I only did that, because the helpme template wasn't working right earlier. Sorry if I am abusing it. Kitty53 (talk) 07:19, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what the question is. Basically, you need to be a normative contributor rather than an angry/juvenile person who harms the project. In general, when there is a conflict, one must follow dispute resolution rather than engage in problematic conduct. I hope this clears up the issue.
(offtopic) the text for the helpme question goes outside of the helpme box.

Is your concern about people getting offensive with you or something else? JaakobouChalk Talk 07:57, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm thinking that most of what you want to know is covered here: Wikipedia:Disruptive editing. JaakobouChalk Talk 13:39, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
People get banned for breaking policy. I'm not sure I can help you further on this subject matter but you can try the WP:Village maybe. JaakobouChalk Talk 18:42, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If someone is doing bad things in the encyclopedia, like deleting pages, or harassing other editors and doesn't stop and continues to do it even after he/she received warnings. then there is a good possibility that he will be blocked from editing for a short period of time. If he/she doesn't change his behavior once the block is over, he may be blocked from editing for a longer period of time, and if the disruptive conduct persists then, he/she may be completely blocked from editing on the website. If you receive a warning for something, then inquire about the policy you've been told that you have broken, so you can learn not to break it in the future. you don't need to feel threatened, just improve your knowledge of the rules. If you get blocked for a short period it's not the end of the world, but you best not continue the same behavior that got you blocked after a first block is released. If you still need more explanations, I suggest posting on the WP:Village maybe. JaakobouChalk Talk 08:12, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kazue Takahashi[edit]

Hi there. I've looked over the article and done a bit of cleanup. At the moment it's difficult to establish notability because of the lack of secondary sources. It's hard to establish that the production in which she played is notable, so you need to put in-line citations to establish that your information comes from reliable secondary sources. Also echoing what Calvin said about the paragraphs. Thanks, PeterSymonds | talk 06:18, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It looks notable enough, yes; it asserts notability, so that's good as well. I think it can survive AfD if it came to it, but sources (in-line citations if possible) would greatly help as well. But you've done a great job, well done. To me it looks fine. :) Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 23:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How are you doing?[edit]

Did I sufficiently answer your question? Is there anything else I can help you with? Ursasapien (talk) 06:36, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Ursasapien. I always wonder why people get blocked every now and then, especially indefinitely. Why do people get blocked?Kitty53 (talk) 02:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ursasapien? Hello? Are you dead?Kitty53 (talk) 02:45, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, not dead, jusy a little busy with real life. I want to give you a thorough answer, so give me a bit more time. Ursasapien (talk) 06:58, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
First, see WP:BLOCK. This is a fairly comprehensive description. The reasons why editors may be blocked include putting other editors or Wikipedia as a whole in harm's way, disrupting the project, using an open/anonymous proxy to edit, and attempting to avoid a block/ban. "Indefinite blocks are usually applied when there is significant disruption or threats of disruption, or major breaches of policy." Do you have a more specific question? Ursasapien (talk) 07:17, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I was asking why people get blocked on Wikipedia. Thanks, Ursasapien. I was only asking if you were dead, because you were gone for so long. People get busy at times. Oh well. Thanks.Kitty53 (talk) 20:05, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Vandalism[edit]

Why is it that some vandals get away with the vandalism they start, like the false birthday I found on Lee Eun-ju before I fixed it? This wiki needs something that will automatically detect vandalism, so the vandals are not warned so late, like they are nowadays.Kitty53 (talk) 00:20, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's not like we can catch every vandal. We try our best to revert all vandalism. Even when one is found late, it would be reverted/removed. Also, it could be that a user adds vandalism one edit at a time, one inappropriate word, hidden vandalism, sneaky vandalism, etc. and it's hard to keep up with. But we do try our best. Also, there are many tools like TWINKLE that helps but no tool can find all vandals. Not even our vandal fighting bots can get all of them. Hope this helps. --RyRy5 (talk copy-edit) 00:24, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There are a lot of bots that do this (like User:Cluebot) but unlike humans, they are not 100% effective.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions|Guest) 00:45, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's really no way a bot can figure out that changing a birthday is vandalism. There are times where an incorrect birthdate is listed for person, and a correct one is added. So it's not as simple as reverting every change of a birthday. — The Hand That Feeds You:Bite 01:12, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, bot's are not perfect. Our vandal fighting bots have actually made mistakes. --RyRy5 (talk copy-edit) 01:22, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, an editor may in good faith change an individual's birthday because they have different information. This is why sources are so important. There has been a long running controversy about Jimmy Wales birthday and he has, at times, been coy about the true answer. Ursasapien (talk) 04:31, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mandi Lampi[edit]

Could you provide a link to the video where you claim to have found Mandi Lampi's birthday? JIP | Talk 20:57, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I could not find any mention of the birthday in either the video itself or the comments. The comments wouldn't be a reliable source anyway. JIP | Talk 17:01, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello![edit]

Hi, Kitty53. I've posted one or two messages to you before. I'm a friend of Moonriddengirl, so I was answering messages from you to her when she was away.

I see that you've made useful edits to a large number of Wikipedia articles. That's great! Keep up the good work.

I like getting messages on my talk page, so please feel free to post a message to me on my talk page if you just want to say hello, or if you have questions about how to use Wikipedia, etc.

Here are some smiles for you! Coppertwig (talk) 15:49, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! And thank you for your message: you made me smile!!
By the way, I don't want to distract you too much from editing articles, but you might be amused by some knock-knock jokes. See User talk:Moonriddengirl#Moonriddengirl! and User talk:Tiptoety#Re RfA. Coppertwig (talk) 18:51, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Hello[edit]

Hi, Ursasapien. I was looking through WP:BU today, and realized a sockpuppet (Archtransit, a sockpuppet of Dereks1x) had sockpuppets. How is it possible for a sockpuppet to even have sockpuppets? Is that even possible at all?Kitty53 (talk) 20:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Technically, I guess it is not possible or it is a matter of your perspective. A sockpuppet is when an editor creates a secondary account and pretends that the account is a different individual. The good folks at Wikipedia have a number of ways to investigate and identify users that have several accounts. When these "puppet" accounts are identified, they block/ban them. I suppose one perspective is that an editor had a primary account (Dereks1x) and then many sockpuppet accounts. Perhaps they did not identify his use of sockpuppet accounts until they discovered Archtransit. Therefore, they say "Archtransit has sockpuppets . . . oops, no, Archtransit is a sockpuppet!" Re: Someone once deleted the main page?[edit]

Ursasapien, on WP:DDMP, it says an admin once deleted the main page. Is this true?Kitty53 (talk) 04:12, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I assume it is true, although this happened before my time here. The main page is editable, but they have more safeguards in place now. Ursasapien (talk) 04:49, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: About your question for Kumiko Higa request by me[edit]

Sorry, I'm a bit confused - could you clarify what you're referring to? -- Natalya 11:19, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I get it now; thanks. :) It's just my own personal opinion, but taking a look at Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Entertainers, I think that she is notable enough. Her role as a voice actor in the Japanese version of Mega Man is definitly notable, and it seems that she's been in a large number of other series also. However, I imagine you're much more familiar with those series than I am - did she have main roles in any of them, and are any of those series well-known? Providing that she has at least one other prominent role, it seems like things should be okay. However, others may have different opinions (just as a disclaimer!). Please let me know if I can be of any other help, -- Natalya 21:02, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Being curious on random articles, I saw that you stated that you hate life on a few ocassions. Is something wrong? If there's something that's happening to you, that's making you upset, would you like me to try to find a way to cheer you up? If you can provide sources to cite the information, and dig up a little bit of actual information on them, they should be good articles. You can improve them. You just need to get some good information on them. Just a long list of what they've worked on, isn't a very great article. Would you like help in improving them? Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. Okay. I'll try finding some information tomorrow. (It's already 2:10am where I live) Also, it's no big deal if an article who work on is up for deletion. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

I don't understand your comment I'm afraid, I deleted a redirect to List of Pokémon voice actors that you had created after moving this article to your userspace at User:Kitty53/Andi Whaley (see diff). You were not the author of the list article, so you were not notified of this AfD.
