Autopatrolled granted[edit]

Hi Liam E. Bekker, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 18:40, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Idris Kanu requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Nomination of Idris Kanu for deletion[edit]

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Telfordbuck (talk) 16:18, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there again, long time no "see",

exaggerated summary after my last edit(s) in the aforementioned article? A bit, yes, and for that I apologize, but the most important is that your overall outline has not been harmed one bit (surely you can compromise in the display of sources, or not? I have seen THOUSANDS of articles with that display in foreign refs and it seems to be AOK).

One question, if you don't mind me asking (and this without being 100% sure if you wrote it or not, but if you think it can/must be removed you can take care of that, I'm not touching the storyline with a 10-feet pole): don't you think his personal life sub-section contains too much info? Why on earth do we need his height and place of birth in that section? Usually, the former goes in box (with a source) and the latter goes in the beginning of storyline (club career, or early life); again, this cannot be stressed enough, I won't touch anything even if you choose to leave article as it presently is.

Attentively, sorry for the inconvenience (and the smart ass - of sorts - edit summary) and continue the good work --Quite A Character (talk) 12:53, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Also (same reasoning, not sure if you inserted the wording), I don't think it's adviseable to insert numbers in honours (ESPECIALLY when dealing with figures as low as "2"). Again, not altering anything, I leave it to your better judgement. --Quite A Character (talk) 13:09, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Again, a not-very-correct edit summary from me, but it's just I don't feel very comfortable editing the wording, but it's not your fault of course. A small request, if possible: can I edit the sub-headers in international career, leaving just YOUTH and SENIOR (both "Spain" and "team" are implied, and it makes for humungous titles)?

Happy week --Quite A Character (talk) 11:42, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Viktor Gyökeres has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GiantSnowman 16:14, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I PRODded it because, at the time, it did not meet WP:NFOOTBALL or WP:GNG. You removed the PROD and added more sources. I'm still not 100% about GNG but it's better. I then merged my sandbox article with your mainspace article. GiantSnowman 18:41, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I certainly hope you're not displaying WP:OWNERSHIP here. GiantSnowman 19:41, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander-Arnold[edit]

Hi! Excellent job on the article Trent Alexander-Arnold, it's always a pleasure to read well-written and researched football articles. One question about his full name though: You clearly are an expert when it comes to internet sources, but I was wondering about his full name. BDFutbol lists it as "Trent John Alexander-Arnold", but the Premier League squad list for this season for example (https://www.premierleague.com/news/6128289) doesn't have the "John". As the latter is the Official Premier League site, would you trust their names more or is it known to have errors? I'd be very grateful for a reply. Cheers! HowardMR (talk) 14:50, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi HowardMR, thank you for the compliment! I'm actually not familiar with BDFutbol - the full name edit was posted way back by another editor here - [1]. I've had a quick look around and Transfermarkt is the only other source I can find to include "John" in his full name and they aren't considered reliable. The Premier League site is more reliable so I don't think anyone would have any complaints if you changed it. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 15:58, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I wasn't sure about Transfermarkt, I can't if they have sources or just see stuff here and go with it. About the change: He will be a part of the England squad for the World Cup and the FIFA usually has the full names in their squad list. So I would wait until it is published and if John isn't there, I would change it and source it to said list. Thanks for the reply! HowardMR (talk) 16:19, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi HowardMR, just in case you hadn't seen, Trent's full name was correct. Another user referenced it to the World Cup squad lists so it was a good shout from you above. Hope you're enjoying the tournament. Cheers, Liam E. Bekker (talk) 13:17, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I had lost hope after the first list didn't include the full names, but the second one did. Sorry I forgot to edit the article accordingly though. Thanks for the heads-up and I hope you're having a good time as well! HowardMR (talk) 20:49, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Regrettably, Featured Lists are not eligible for DYK unless they have been 5x expanded within the past seven days, something that is very unlikely given how long the FLC process takes. Only new GAs are eligible via such a route. There is a spot on the main page for Featured Lists, so perhaps it can be featured via that section. Yusuf Yazıcı[edit]

Hello, since when a properly and notably sourced transfer interest on a professional footballer is removed from articles? Regards. Isik (talk) 16:50, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Isik, given how frequent and unreliable it is, transfer speculation generally isn't included in articles without context. Liam E. Bekker (talk)

Query regarding Tammy Abraham[edit]

Scoring a brace is not notable? Then what is notable for a striker? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Partheshmittal (talkcontribs) 17:07, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Partheshmittal, on its own a brace is not notable, nor are goals in general. Firsts, milestones and record breaking goals, or where the goal/brace/hat-trick has greater context, will generally be notable. Hope that helps. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 17:12, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dries Mertens, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Red Bull Salzburg (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

A query[edit]

Dear @Liam E. Bekker

I was wondering if you, a clearly eminent user, might possibly have a look at this situation and provide your opinion. I wanted to add section titles to the article Roberto Firmino (as is done on many other articles such as Mohamed Salah and Lionel Messi). However, a user called Giant Snowman didn’t like this idea and reverted lots of my edits. I feel like this user is contributing negatively to the article and yet I do not wish to be too voracious for fear of an edit war. So, I was wondering if you might allow me to know your opinion on this (full text here), and reply to me with your thoughts?

Many thanks,

From Scientelensia (talk) 17:20, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
