Dactylic hexameter[edit]

Dear Lo2u,

Since your last edit on Dactylic hexameter I get to see squares on the place of the short syllable and "either one long or two shorts", both on my iPad, and on my PC. I'm sure some others will have the same problem. Of course the former solution, using 'u', isn't very elegant, but hopefully another solution can be found.

Kind regards, Sint Aldegonde (talk) 21:32, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, ok. Could I ask if this works any better?: Ārmă vĭr|ūmquĕ căn|ō, Trōi|āe quī| prīmŭs ăb| ōrīs --Lo2u (TC) 23:14, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That is much better, thanks. But then I wonder how it will be solved in cases where there are no letters under the scansion, e.g. under ‘Structure’. Sint Aldegonde (talk) 20:44, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know. I've updated it. Could I ask if the notation in the template for this article is any better? The fixed width thing wasn't great because half of visits used the mobile site. For these, and many desktop visits, the line will not have fitted across the screen and the text wraps in a different way from the scansion.--Lo2u (TC) 23:36, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that looks fine. Well done for improving the article. Another question now emerges: the mark that divides the dactyls ({{!}}) is now very hard to distinguish from the letter l. I’d suggest the way it is done here as a possible solution. Sint Aldegonde (talk) 15:32, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
