Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Draft:Macarena de Bie, and I noticed that your username, "Macarenamusic", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. @Nihonjoe: This name seems to be the user's name, which would mean it is OK under policy. 331dot (talk) 20:47, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: I'm quite positive their actual name is not "Macarenamusic". If they want to change their username from "Macarenamusic" to "Macarena de Bie" (if it's available), I have no problem with that. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 21:31, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Nihonjoe: I apologize, you are quite correct. Missed their edit summaries. 331dot (talk) 21:33, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at Draft:Macarena de Bie. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Macarena de Bie, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. November 2018[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. 331dot (talk) 21:34, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I blocked your account because you have posted messages claiming that you are this person and also posted that you are their manager. If you are the manager, this username is not acceptable and you should not post messages pretending to be this person, even if you are acting as their representative. You will need to request a new username as instructed above. You will also need to read WP:COI and WP:PAID. 331dot (talk) 21:36, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

my username wasn't according to the Wikipedia guidelines

Decline reason:

The username issue has been fixed, but until we have an undertaking from you that you will stop trying to promote your artist(s) on Wikipedia, and an indication of what you will do here instead, an unblock will not be forthcoming. Yunshui  10:41, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else will review your request, but you need to address who you actually are(I assume the manager) and indicate that you have read and understand the policies I mention above. 331dot (talk) 09:24, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

the article I created, didn't meet the guidelines of Wikipedia. I am new to Wikipedia so I'm just discovering its many layers Hi 331dot thank you for your help. I'm new to Wikipedia so I don't know much about it and about it's guidelines. I apologize for not working according the guidelines and can assure you I didn't do this on purpose. I respect the rules of this platform very much. I am the artist and the manager, since I am an independent artist. I read the policies you've mentioned above and will work accordingly the next time I create an article on Wikipedia. Again, I apologize!

With this edit you stated "There wasn't a page created for this artist. So i wrote down the basic info about her." In another (now deleted) edit you stated "There wasn't a page created for this artist in Amsterdam. So as her manager I created one about her." Based on these statements I find your claim that you are the artist difficult to believe. If you are just the manager, please be honest about this. If you aren't, you will need to reconcile those statements with your statement that you are the artist. 331dot (talk) 10:15, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Additional comments do not need the unblock request formatting, you only need one open request. 331dot (talk) 10:15, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That is correct, I did say that on different instances. However, as I mentioned I am an independent artist and there for currently operate as both the artist and the manager - as I write and publish my own music and book my own shows. I am just starting as an independent artist and therefore cannot afford a manager at the moment, this leaves me to be my own manager. I wrote it in the 3rd person because that is how I am used to writing about my music, due to the fact that this is the way to write about it on Streaming platforms. As I said, I'm new to wikipedia and didn't know the guidelines. However, I am now aware of them and I will follow them from now on. Thank you for your quick response and I sincerely hope this answers your questions. Also, thanks for letting me know I don't need to post another unblock request. That was also something I did not not due to the fact of being new to this platform. I hope we can resolve this issue as soon as possible.

You need to make another request now, as your first was declined. It's only when you have a request open(in a blue box) that you don't need another. As stated, you aren't going to be unblocked in order to promote yourself. 331dot (talk) 10:54, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

No. This doesn't convince me you'll avoid writing about yourself. Yamla (talk) 11:45, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to request for my page to be unblocked. I was made aware that my article about 'macarena de bie' wasn't according to the wikipedia guidelines. I uploaded an article that created the suspect of it being made for promotional purposes. I'd like to re-asure, I will not use this platform for promotional purposes and will follow the guidelines when I create a new article. For now I'd just like to figure out Wikipedia and it's article guidelines before I contribute to the platform with an article.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I'd like to request for my page to be unblocked. As I've explained before, it was first blocked because it didn't meet the guidelines for articles on Wikipedia. The article came across as being promotional. However, it wasn't created with that intention nor will I create an article for promotional purposes in the future on Wikipedia, I promise. I will think twice next time and ask the Wikipedia forum before uploading anything because I respect this platform's rules and also because I'd like to avoid this back and forth situation since it's very time consuming for both parties. I don't know what else to say. I hope my page gets unblocked, because this is very discouraging for a starting Wikipedia user.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficiently convincing for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. Yamla (talk) 16:58, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Welcome![edit]

Hello, Macarenamusic, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!
