Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Malangali! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk Pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan. 12:26, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

Okiek and Akiek[edit]

I see that you have created different articles for Okiek and Akiek. Since they are synonymous, there is no need for two different articles. One can redirect to the other. I have made Akiek a redirect to Okiek. --Ezeu 02:01, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kwavi / Parakuyo / Baraguyu[edit]

Hi I like your Tanzania ethnic stubs but should the article be included in the Kwavi language article??. Personally I think there should be seperate articles for kwani ethnic gropu and language but seperate articles should be linked in each article. e.g in your Kwavi article you should mention the Kwavi language. Also check that the articles you have already listed to not already exist under .... language. good luck James Janderson 13:09, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your input, James. I have no fish to fry in this discussion - my interest here is to get as complete a list as possible of ethnic groups in Tanzania (in English and Swahili), and to create useful baseline stubs for each group so that people who know more can come along and add more information later. I know almost nothing about the Kwavi, or even whether the article should appear as Kwavi or Parakuyo or Baraguyu. Please feel free to make any fixes that the evidence supports - just make sure to update the page List of ethnic groups in Tanzania if you make any redirects.
On the subject of Kwavi versus Kwavi language, I do have a strong opinion that these should be two separate articles. In general, an article like Kwavi should include information about the people, and an associated article like Kwavi language should be reserved for a discussion of the history of the language and a linguistic description of it. Hi[edit]

Hi, nice work making a start on articles for Tz ethnic groups! — Matt Crypto 22:20, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Almost done with all the stubs in English - and then it's on to the same list in Swahili... Malangali 22:23, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting user name[edit]

Does your user name derive from Malangali Secondary Scool or from the ward it is in? I did voluntary work at Malangali Secondary School for nine months in 2003, so I would be interested in finding out the reason why you chose it as a user name. Marcoscramer 18:32, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have lived in Malangali off and on since 1995. I used to live in Mwilavila, down the hill from the secondary school on the road to Itengule. In 1996 I built a house near the top of the hill across the river in Isimikinyi, which you can see from the secondary school area, particularly if you stand at the intersection near the police station. Interwiki[edit]

I have added interwikilinks to your user pages. This makes it easier to navigate across projects. You can find them on the left, under the toolbox. Best, — mark 12:15, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, you're a star! Malangali 20:23, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Diane Farrell continued...[edit]

Well if you haven't seen already I restored the article, and ran straight into a lot of complaints. It looks like the article will be kept now but I was wondering if you would give me permission to post the conversation we had on IRC on wiki in order to set some people's minds at rest. the wub "?!" 12:22, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, it would be fine to post that conversation. It's also worth considering what to do about the other challengers in the upcoming US Congressional elections - there might be a massive power shift overnight, with dozens of people who have been subject to Wikipedia deletion. Tanzania ethnic groups[edit]

Hello there!

I noticed that you created a mass amount of Tanzanian ethnic groups. First off, I would like to thank you for the energy you have put in, too many people concern themselves with the big articles and not enough with improving ignored articles and places. I just wanted to let you know that there is now a {{Tanzania-ethno-group-stub}}. I have begun sorting it, but if you would like to sort them (seeing as you created them) that would be fantastic. Also, try not to include 2 similar categories. For example, don't include Indigenous people of Africa and Indigenous people of East Africa. East Africa is sufficient. Thanks again and continue with the good work.--Thomas.macmillan 20:42, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tanzanian Politicians[edit]

Pleas correct your articles to Category:Tanzanian politicians and add a [[ ]] around it now. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 23:19, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I don't understand exactly what you are suggesting. Could you please amend the article for Anna Margareth Abdallah as an example, and then I will be happy to follow through for the rest of the MPs. Malangali 02:31, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tanzanian politicians[edit]

What is the point of creating all these articles with no content and no sources? Why not, for example, create a list and have them redirect? —Centrxtalk • 03:29, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Like this is fine now Anna Margareth Abdallah but please try to add a little bit of info e.g birth date? or what they actually do? Ernst Stavro Blofeld 10:06, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The point is to create stubs that can subsequently be filled in. It is part of a process, not an end to itself. Creation of the stubs is much easier if it can be done mostly by cutting and pasting. Then, the next step will be returning to the individual member pages at the Parliament website to flesh out the details. It is a large project, so I am trying to accomplish it in the manner that is most efficient, not necessarily the most elegant. Malangali 13:36, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stub sorting[edit]

Greetings Malangali

Please do not tag articles with both {{Tanzania-bio-stub}} and {{Tanzania-politician-stub}}. Since the -politician-stub is a child of the -bio stub template, using both templates is not only unnecessary, it also makes it very hard to keep the -bio category at a manageable size, which is the main reason why the -politician-stub template was create in the first place. The standard used thoughout Wikipedia is simply to use the most specialized template. I'll try to fix this material, but in the future; please just use {{Tanzania-politician-stub}}. Happy editing. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 17:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just realized that the {{Tanzania-politician-stub}} template was flawed. It should have linked one way or another to both the politician material and the Tanzanian categories. I have created a Category:Tanzanian politician stubs which is a child of Category:Tanzanian people stubs, and regarding the members of the African Parliament, I've made the appropriate category a child of Category:Tanzanian politicians and resorted the articles accordingly. All in all, I hope that the category tree is more logical now. Happy editing. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 18:06, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, you too! —Angr 12:36, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of largest buildings in the world[edit]

Hi there, I have recently taken on the task of improving the list of largest buildings in the world article. I noticed that you have made some contributions to this article and read on the talk page that you have done some research into this topic in the past. I was wondering if you would be able to provide me with some sources that you used to carry out this research as I am finding it a little difficult to get information at the moment. Any help would be much appreciated.CStubbies 10:48, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

February 2008[edit]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits like the ones you did on Palace of the Parliament. Thanks--DurzaTwinkTALK 18:53, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article says it is the world's second largest administrative building after the Pentagon. bogdan (talk) 18:57, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Durzatwink - what was unconstructive about the comment? I was correcting an obviously bogus factual error, as I was running out the door. Someone noticed, which means that they should then have picked up the ball and implemented the fix. The fact that the article was reverted to its original incorrect form indicates that everything I said in my temporary fix was 100% correct.
Bogdan, the Palace of the Parliament is NOT the world's 2nd largest administrative building. It is NOT! It is NOT! Look at the list of world's largest buildings and you will find more than one other that is larger. Maybe it was at one time, perhaps, just like the Empire State Building was once the world's tallest building. But the facts have changed as new buildings have been built, so Wikipedia should reflect the new reality. Malangali (talk) 08:54, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Feethan Filipo Banyikwa, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Feethan Filipo Banyikwa seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Feethan Filipo Banyikwa, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Malangali! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 952 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Your admin status[edit]

Hello. I'm a steward. A new policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus recently. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.   You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on lgwiki, where you are an administrator. Since that wiki does not have its own administrators' rights review process, the global one applies.   If you want to keep your rights, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights, and demonstrate a continued requirement to maintain these rights.   We stewards will evaluate the responses. If there is no response at all after approximately one month, we will proceed to remove your administrative rights. In cases of doubt, we will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact us on m:Stewards' noticeboard.   Best regards, Rschen7754 03:32, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. For those of you who signed up to the North African contest, that will hopefully be held in the new year. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the Months of African Cinema![edit]

Greetings!

ArbCom 2018 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Malangali. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mgeni Jadi Kadika moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you created, Mgeni Jadi Kadika, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Notice

The article Meryce Mussa Emmanuel has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Liz Read! Disambiguation link notification for December 27[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Google Translate, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Corpus (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:10, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on John Thibodeaux requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://web.archive.org/web/20190724200423/http://improvisedshakespeare.com/about/writeup/li/BIO-28/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa (talk) 13:57, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
